Lindsay75 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Ok, this is a strange one but I'll do my best not to confuse everyone. My dad has two C5's - one of which is an estate, now, the estate has had an airbag light problem for a while which we have tried loads of things with - the diagnostic tests say that it's the steering wheel squib - but we have replaced this and re-set the ECU and it's still there, anyway in the neverending quest to rid the air bag light we decided to see if the airbag light would stay on if we put the entire dash in the other C5 - UNFORTUNATELY, now both C5's read the same mileage (the higher of the two (adding about 20K to the other model) obviously it's some sort of anti-fraud thing but is there any way I can get this reset?? and also any ideas regarding the airbag will be greatly received too!!!Lindsay Quote
kfk Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Afraid you cant get it reset.......for your information the mileage information is stored in both instrument panel and the vehicles main computer as you have found out the component with the higher mileage downloads it into the component with the lower mileage and over writes it. paul.h Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 On a Saab 9-5 (our previous car) the steering wheel air bag and radio controls have a rotating wiring connector on the steering column in the back of the steering wheel. It has a coil of wire in a case and allows the wheel to turn. These do not last forever and I had to replace it since the radio controls wire had snapped but it is also common for the air bag wire to break. There will be something like this on the C5 and that may be your air bag problem. Quote

B*GGER!!!!!! LOL - I suppose it could have been worse - 20K difference isn't too big a deal - and he's got service history and NOT certs to back the proper mileage up to the point it was changed accidentally if he needs to sell it!Cheers anyway!
