Webby Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Hi New to the forum, can anyone help I have a C5 HDI LX 2001 Diesel. Every time I drive, about 5-10 mins after I commence my journey I get a bing (or ding) the same noise as if you go into reverse. The car is in the garage and he seems to be replacing everything they possibly can and I am dreading the bill, is there anyone that can help me please? The car has been on the computer and it has thrown up nothing any suggestions are very welcome.. :( Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Any message on the dashboard. Modern Citroens ding for all sorts of things now. Even if the handbrake comes on slightly whilst the car is moving. Quote

Have you left anything on any of the seats? If it's heavy enough to trigger the sensor there you go. Worth unplugging the wire to the reverse switch on the gear box? Quote

We thought it might be the seat belt so when we were travelling I asked my passenger to unplug, just to see if it was the problem and the bing or ding didn't come on, so he plugged back in and after 5 minutes or so the bing started again, It seems to start when the car has been going for 10 minutes (just as the engine has warmed up)!! I don't know if it has anything to do with the radio as the CD doesn't seem to want to register the CD, (only when it feels like it) I have only had the car for a few months and find it very frustrating :( Quote

Webby Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 have to steal iannez's answer to another post - posible duff reverse light switch? Hi we thought it might have been the reversing light switch and had tried that first still to no avail so kept on looking and Found the problem, it was the suspension buttons in the middle of the two front seats, took it apart and found that the electrics which control the suspension was slightly damp, so dried it off and so far touch wood no more binging  thanks to all that had replied to help me Quote

Soft drinks, especially Coke and coffee/tea are very bad for electronics. Should you make this mistake the electronic part needs cleaning out immediately. Coke left in for more than 48 hours really causes havoc. Once damage to the circuit board has taken place it's a replacement job. Quote

Maybe owners should use the vehicle as transport rather than a Cafe! Quote
