Guest chrisrout Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hi all, I am now the proud owner of a C5 Executive estate, however I have a problem with the parking assistance. There is a short audible signal when I select reverse but no signal when I approach an obsticle at the rear. Can anyone tell me if this is standard on this model, and if there is a common fault with this that can be checked. Thanks Quote
Randombloke Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 How close did you get to the obstacle? Does the car have a tow bar? On my car it's only in the last metre that the sensors start to make a noise. Also, some tow installations disable the reversing sensors, but only when a trailer is connected. Worth looking under the rear bumper to be sure nothing has been disconnected? Quote

Worth looking under the rear bumper to be sure nothing has been disconnected? I was about half a meter from the wall and still no noise, as far as I know there has never been a towbar attached, I will have a look under the rear bumper, can you please let me know what I am looking for though!! paul.h Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 May be a daft question, but do you have parking assist installed ? On our C5 you always get the beep when the gear lever is put into reverse but it does not have parking assist. Quote
GreedyPig Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 You should have four round discs installed in the rear valance about the size of a 1p piece. Also check on the centre console that you don't have the reversing sensor switched off (illuminated). Check also the multi-computer, as the sensors can be selected on/off via the display. Quote
Guest chrisrout Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Not a daft question no, I dont even know if it has it, just thought it was standard on the Executive model, no sign of any sensors though so it may not be fitted. Its a bit of a nightmare to reverse in car parks though! Thanks Paul Quote

No sign of the sensors, I cant see the control on the computer either so probably not there on mine. Thanks Quote
