Hi all, just a tip for anyone looking to get a C5 DON'T they are a load of rubbish. I had a C5 2ltr HDI VTR auto, 2004, 22000 miles it was like a sponge to drive they do not go into 4 gear until you do 50MPH and if you are lucky you will get 32 mpg, get a Mazda 6 petrol instead.

Bit of an odd place to be telling people not to buy a Citroen! I mean we wouldn't be here unless we had one! Regarding the "Spongy" drive, did you try setting the suspension to "Sport"?

Have to agree about automatics though. When it comes to MPGs they are DIRE! OK for people with only one leg though! I'd be AMAZED if an Automatic Mazda 6 was any better. Also you can buy an entire Citroen for the price of a Jap exhaust system!

nothing wrong with my c5, 2.0 HDI. best car i've had so far and i've had a few. and everyone knows autos are rubbish for fuel economy. thats why road tax costs more! I got 723 miles from a full tank :D

Basically what this should say is buy a C5 just dont buy an auto if you want fuel economy.

Saying that heard of lots of electrical gremlins on the C5 but I do really like the look of the new one coming out lovely looking car.

And yet the 2.0 6 speed manuals will do over 50 to the gallon.....

I've got a 5 speed 2.2 and get about 42 mpg.

Why people spend all that extra money on an auto simply to waste fuel heating up ATF is beyond me.....

Last Sunday night I drove the 35 miles to Malaga airport along the A7. I had stacks of time so on reaching the motorway I set the cruise control to 55mph. On reaching the exit for the airport, the fuel computer showed an average of 60mpg.

I have just bought a 2.2 EX se for £3,000 - 60.000on Nov. 02. Replaced eolys plus box 531 euros. One stud drilled and replaced Citroen garage here in France. Quote for one tyre from Citroen 300euros, best price was from Speedy - (Kwik Fit uk).two for 444.80E, inclusive. On the 1700 mile trip back from U.K ave 36 mpg, have since replaced air filter that was full, oil and fuel filters changed, and engine oil. Hoping to improve on this when I return in March . To re- register in France the xenons do need replacing, I had mine looked at by the Autosur (mot station to you) and they do kick up. 618 euros each. The best price I have found so far is 700e.plus 20%tax per pair . Still where do you get 25grand of car for that price?, My Ren Scenic worth the same price for same year second hand, but cost 11grand new. Had to remove the sat nav cd to clean, also used cd and cleaner, and it now seems to work ok. Overall I am pleased with the car. Insurance here in France is 540 euros full com including break down cover.

I enjoy reading other peoples' comments and experiences.

Bry. Have just had the new lamps fitted 56.60 euros plus Mot 59 euros total inc 121,60 managed to get one lamp for170 e, another 618inc, no left hand ones on e bay wonder why.
