Guest khr Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Hi all, just a tip for anyone looking to get a C5 DON'T they are a load of rubbish. I had a C5 2ltr HDI VTR auto, 2004, 22000 miles it was like a sponge to drive they do not go into 4 gear until you do 50MPH and if you are lucky you will get 32 mpg, get a Mazda 6 petrol instead. Guest Colin Hunter Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Bit of an odd place to be telling people not to buy a Citroen! I mean we wouldn't be here unless we had one! Regarding the "Spongy" drive, did you try setting the suspension to "Sport"? Have to agree about automatics though. When it comes to MPGs they are DIRE! OK for people with only one leg though! I'd be AMAZED if an Automatic Mazda 6 was any better. Also you can buy an entire Citroen for the price of a Jap exhaust system! Quote
daffy4895 Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 nothing wrong with my c5, 2.0 HDI. best car i've had so far and i've had a few. and everyone knows autos are rubbish for fuel economy. thats why road tax costs more! I got 723 miles from a full tank :D Quote
wozza Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Basically what this should say is buy a C5 just dont buy an auto if you want fuel economy. Saying that heard of lots of electrical gremlins on the C5 but I do really like the look of the new one coming out lovely looking car. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Aye! Pity it's not a hatch though! Quote

And yet the 2.0 6 speed manuals will do over 50 to the gallon..... I've got a 5 speed 2.2 and get about 42 mpg. Why people spend all that extra money on an auto simply to waste fuel heating up ATF is beyond me..... Quote
richbaker Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 not yet! ahahaha ________________________________i love Autopartswarehouse because Autopartswarehouse is for real Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 And yet the 2.0 6 speed manuals will do over 50 to the gallon..... Last Sunday night I drove the 35 miles to Malaga airport along the A7. I had stacks of time so on reaching the motorway I set the cruise control to 55mph. On reaching the exit for the airport, the fuel computer showed an average of 60mpg. Quote

Randombloke Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ......maybe because they only have one leg, and unlike you dont have a choice! Have they not hear of Douglas Bader? :) But seriously, there are far more 2.2 autos than people with one leg? Quote
