Guest Suzanne Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Hi All, I'm new to the site and I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice. I have a 2004 C2 diesel. When I bought it, I told the guy at the garage I could feel a bit of grinding when I went round a corner, he said he would do the brakes before I bought it. (That was 3 months ago). For the past month it's been making a squeaking squealing noise from the front drivers side (usually at speeds of 50+) which stops if I touch the brake. It also stops if I go over a natural bump in the road, when the weight is off the tyres. If when its making the noise, I move the steering wheel abit it stops too!?! So last week, I changed the brake discs because I noticed the garage had only changed the pads but the discs were also low. When I pulled over today the wheel trim of the suspect wheel was hotter than the others. Could it be a sticky caliper? If anyone could throw any light on the matter, I would be really grateful,Suzanne :D Quote
paul.h Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Some general things since I have not seen a C2 brake caliper. Could be the piston seized in the caliper - does the car pull to the other side when gently braking ? Also when replacing the pads were these free to move or seized - copper grease on the metal backs and sides where touching the caliper help prevent this. Without the pads in, could the caliper slide easily and was not seized ? Quote
Guest Citroen CT Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 nothing serious just the brake pads which need cleaning you will find that the paint on the fish tail part of the pads has melted causing them to stick when hot Quote
techbod Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 perhaps the pistons weren't pushed fully back and the caliper hammered on to make it fit this would cause the pads to bind, jack the wheel of the ground and spin it to see if it rotates freely. Quote
