James2cv Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 OK well then, We've been offered a 2004/54 SX in black for £5,100 off a family friend. It's basically the same as ours apart from they told us that this one is only 1 of 4 C3s in the country that has these options... 1. Auto Climate Control2. Full panoramic sunroof3. Auto wipers and all the other fancy stuff.4. armrests(front only)5. rear electric windows ( this is weird because when we ordered our SX at around the same time this one was registered, im pretty sure that wasnt an option)5. auto transmission6. multi stack cd They told me they'd had to wait 5 months for this car to be built to their spec for them, as there were none with that spec in the UK at the time. I'd like to ask if this would be a better deal than a C3 xtr ( the chunky one) thats in my citroen dealer at the moment for a similar price. It's not got the spec that the SX has but its got a nicer engine. WHICH ONE SHOULD I CHOOSE?!?!?!!?! Quote
techbod Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 show me a field full of bulls and you can guess the answer. It's basically the same as ours apart from they told us that this one is only 1 of 4 C3s in the country that has these options... Quote
raveydavey Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 It depends on what you're looking for. How long is a piece of string? The car your friend has for sale seems to have all the bells and whistles, but will you use them? If not, they're of no benefit to you. Is an armrest a deal breaker? The XTR has the chunky "faux-by-four" looks but is otherwise no different to any other C3 - and is also a discontinued model. You say it has a nicer engine, but you don't say which engine either car has. You need to buy the one that is right for your needs. Quote
paul.h Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 You do not have to choose either of them. First decide what you want/need (eg auto gearbox) and how much you want to pay. There are lots of C3s on the market. A dealer will also give a warranty in case some thing goes wrong and you should expect a private sale to be cheaper than a dealer. Parkers.co.uk gives a good idea of prices as well as autotrader.co.uk. On our C5 we have the auto wipers which in reality means the intermittent wipe frequency varies on the amount of rain at the sensor point on the screen - sometimes it is ok but I would prefer a normal intermittent wipe. Black cars look nice but show the dirt although not as bad as a white car we once had. The auto climate we tend to have switched off most of the time. Quote
stimulator Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 The later model C3s (post face lift with bigger front grill) have boith intermittent and auto wipers. Why I don't know but they do. the intermittent ones work on the first up detent and they wipe irrespective of whether ther is water on the screen but decrease the time period the faster you go. The auto ones work by pulling the lever down to what was a single wipe position. They then operate if the screen is wet. The problem here is that you have to select the intermittent position and then OFF to cancel the AUTO or wait until you kill the ignition. Quote
