Guest c5vtr Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 afternoon i'm for a road trip to France in the next couple of weeks and could do with a new set of tyres. Now i want to put the original Michelin Primacy onto her as the investment it will be but i'm wondering do the French have a Kwik Fit (or better) equivalent? i've been driving in and out of there for years and never had cause to notice, any tips/advice or ideas? Cheers Quote

Yes, here they are: Feu Vert (Green Light) - they appear to have a promo on tyres (pneus) at the moment. Norauto Hope this helps. Please note that in France the car must be homologated with the tyres you are asking them to fit to the car. If they are not, then they will only fit them to loose wheels. They will also refuse to fit two tyres of different types to the same axle, AFAIK. Should not be a problem with the tyres you mention. Quote
old'uns Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 strange as it may seem , Auchan also sell Michelin tyres loose in the aisles!obviously have to pay someone to fit them, but it is fun to watch someone try to put 4 tyres in a trolley ;) Quote

The Primacy range afaik are 'sports' type tyres for a car like mine, not that the spec of the vtr badge deserves it tbh. Thanks for those links, all i need now is the french for balancing and alignment! Quote

Had you being buying last year you may have bought cheaper in France than in the UK. Then a Euro had a value of .69p. Now it's 80p (84p if you have to use the tourist rates) www.speedy.fr is the French subsiduary of Kwikfit, but Norauto which is usually attached to Carrefour or Auchan is worth looking at. For good value I can recommend http://www.tyretraders.com/I've used them two or three times now. Although you buy on the 'net, the tyres are delivered to and fitted by a workshop of your choice.
