Guest HumanTank Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 After a while this quick fix stopped working scratching my head as to what to do next i decided to try something else with ECU on top of the ECU you have 3 plugs with all the wire going into each one i held down the safety catch on top of each one and then pulled down the retainer untill the little notch is at the bottom of it and then pulled each one out you have to do this from right to left. Then i just put the left one back in and tried to start the engine (which it will not start unless all three are in) and then i put the right one in and tried to start the engine. After that i put all three back in started the engine and hey presto back to normal. So far i have driven 800 miles and cross fingers averything is ok dont know how long for but it is working. Quote
techbod Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 a chap from another site "pug" removed his FAP by drilling it out and filled the eloys tank with diesel and hasn't had a problem since I seem to have lost his email he sent me but it mentioned something off an old turbo which he fitted on the exhaust for pressure reasons Quote

Guest HumanTank Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I also unplugged the wire going to the FAP under the car and the wire going to the petrol cap sensor under the car you might want to try this Quote
Guest HumanTank Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 This is also a interesting read this explains how to change the filter and eloys with the correct equipment click on lnk below or copy and paste http://www.autodiagnos.com/fileadmin/asset...lter_fap_ad.pdf Quote
Guest HumanTank Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I was lucky to be given some money to get the work done on the car so it went in at the begining of may the out come was new anti pollution filter, eloiys fluid filled up, censor on the filler tank replaced and another censor somewhere else replaced. Total cost £1,056 OUCH. So was happy as larry driving the car with no faults up untill 3 weeks later fault came on again. So took the car back to the garage where they supplied a courtesy car for the day. Recieved a phone call that afternoon for them to tell me the fault now is the HDI PUMP which will cot you £869 was i not happy that is a understament. They said that they can clen the pump out for £96 but they cant guarantee how long that will last. Well that lasted 2 weeks car is going back in this thursday for them to probaly tell me it is the HDI PUMP fault again, and that i am not going to shell out for so looks like i have just spent over a grand for nothing. There is no way i am going to spend more money for them to to tell me a few weeks later i need to spend more. Why does this car have a FAP SYSTEM on it in the first place it says to cut down the emissions, well the same car NON FAP cost the same in TAX and everything else so you are not saving any money at all. (JUST A DEALER MONEY MAKING SCAM) I wish i would have stuck to what i did do at the start of this topic and kept the money in my pocket. Quote
TheGoose Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Under the ECU unit under the bonnet on the passenger side is a cable with a plug which is secured to the bottom of the ECU unit. ALL I DID WAS CUT THE YELLOW WIRE IN HALF and now i have the car back to A1 running you still get the errors on the dash but at least the car runs great now. I have a C5 2001 2.2 HDI Exclusive. Will this work with my car aswell? As I have had my ECU out, but there is no wire clipped to the underneath of it. All I have is the MAIN big black plug. Then underneath are some wires going to a green box, then to the right hand side of the ECU are several Yellow wires with a Red stripe down them all going to verious plugs. So if anyone can shed some light then I would be very happy. Also have you got any pictures of what we are talking about here? Thanks Mike Quote
Guest Dr. Beaker Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I have had the anti-pollution problem for over three years now. Citroen have failed spectacularly to fix this problem. I have spent about two thousand pounds trying to have it fixed - ie having everything replaced that can be replaced - and have ended up with a car that can barely do 70 mph unless there is a hill involved of course! So Citroen UK cannot fix their own cars and I have ended up with a shed that I can't even sell. UNTIL, that is, my last visit to France. Having a minor problem fixed at my local Citroen garage in Loudun the young mechanic - the garage owners son, who according to local legend is a bit of a whizz with the computerised diagnostics thingy - asked me if I wanted it fixed. I tried to talk him out of it by telling him it was impossible to fix. He looked totally baffled and said he could fix it for 220 Euros and it would take him half an hours work (ordering the part took a day). HE HAS ACTUALLY FIXED IT!!!! The part that he needed to change (as it was broken) was called the 'debitmeter' - that's the French name, I have no idea what the English word for it is - and the irony of the name is not lost on me after the amount of money this damned problem has cost me. The part number is 00001920AG according to my invoice though the part itself has many other code numbers all over it. I have my car back. But Citroen UK have been atrocious. They owe me lots of money as far as I'm concerned, and I will carry on telling anyone who will listen, never to by a Citroen. Quote
paul.h Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Part no. 1920AG is the mass air flow sensor from the Citroen parts diagrams. These can often need cleaning or replacing. It is in the air supply to the engine and measures the air flow. Quote
Guest Dr. Beaker Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) I seem to remember, but may be wrong, that it was giving a false temperature reading of the air, and that was the problem - mind you, my French is pretty bad. It's a section of plastic tube about 3 or 4 inches in diameter with a couple of electronic bits (sensors?) inside, and a sort of filter at one end. Can you post photo's on here? I could post up a photo pf it. Edited April 21, 2013 by Dr. Beaker Quote
paul.h Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Bill196510, welcome to the forum. If you have a problem with your car, post it here (or better to start a new post on the C5 pages) and we will try to help. I do not know which wires would be involved but the above posts show the wire cutting quick fix did not work and possibly ended up costing far more than the initial problem to fix and could not be recommended.
