hi all. i need help with my Dad's car its a Xantia 1.8i 16v . it broke down a few weeks ago and he is having trouble finding the part he needs. he tells me it is a hydraulic pipe , possibly rubber/composite? runs from the hyd reservoir to the regulator? , the pipe has several branches off it to various feeds for steering / brakes etc.

if we could look at a system diagram we could probably identify it.

also the car is a Euro (Spanish) model - left hand drive. any help appreciated.

I've had the pleasure in the past of replacing an octopus - but I thought they were confined to BX's. This is a picture of one:-

it might be a similar item. we think there are about 7 branches from it , rather than 4 . this might be for the floating suspension, we think. ... ?

great help so far. keep it up.

we are having 2nd thoughts though. maybe this is it. do you have a part number? maybe we can try and get one, and a quote on price here in UK. as there doesn't seem to be any at all in Spain/France etc.

I would recommend that to obtain the correct part number of the part you require you take your chassis number to your local dealer and they will provide the correct number.

Alternatively:

register here: http://service.citroen.com

you can put your own chassis number in and confirm the part you require is the bit you are looking at!

thanks for that KFK . the car & log book are in Spain ( DOH!) so we can't see the chassis number at the moment. when my Dad gets back there he will be able to get it and we will try that link.

cheers. Russell.
