I have a 2.0 litre C5 VTR 54 plate hatchback, have only owned it for 3 months and last week the De-Pollution warning light came on the dashboard, took it to the garage and they re-set the computer, told me to go and try it again - this week the damn light has come back on again.

Has anybody got any ideas what this means

Is the car safe to drive around.

Any info would be very much appreciated.

There is a lot of info here. Have a look through the postings in each section, possibilities depend on whether a diesel (exhaust filter) or petrol and mileage covered so far.

It's a Diesel and I have only driven it 3000 miles since it had it's Oil and Filter change.

I did a search on the site for de-pollution but nothing came up

Try a search on anti pollution, this gives a lot of postings.

How many miles has the car done from new ?

Is your reference to oil and filter change for the engine oil/filter or to those for the exhaust filter ?

The exhaust particulate filter problems for a mark 2 C5 should not start until around 70+000 miles when the eolys fluid (this is dosed into the fuel tank to burn off the particles that are collected in the exhaust filter) may be running out and the filter due for a change.

When I purchased the car it had done 62500 miles and it had an engine oil and filter change, since then I have only done 3000 miles.

I took it to the garage today and they put it through their machine with a result of

- Temporary fault, Fuel flow regulating electrovalve Current consumption too high

and they quoted me a new HP Pump at £510.84 + VAT and Labour Totalling £960.07

all because the garage is in Administration and they cannot access any Warranties

I think I'm bad but I'm sure there are people worse off than me.

that link explains how the system works

P0002 = fuel volume regulator control - circuit range/performance probable causes are wiring, regulator control solenoid,

since its intermittent that would point to wiring in my book and the first place to start so look for wiring that's rubbing against something and causing a short

also check the fuses as I recall someone having a similar issue and it was a loose fuse

Lots of pretty colours in the drawings - Far too techy for me though.

And where do you suggest that I start to look for wiring rubbing together - I can just about find the dipstick and water bottle under my bonnet.

Then theres a big plastic shroud covering what I suspect to be the engine

You're talking to a real numpty here you know

P0002

For sid801/803 system, this fault code represents the High pressure pump Flow regulator. There have been cases that require a new high pressure pump assy.

This code can also be generated for cases of hesitation at low engine speeds, this maybe attributed to the electronic EGR valve sticking open.
