Hi - my C5 2.0 HDI diesel is at 93k miles. Worried that its time to change the cam belt I spoke to two local dealers - Citroen Reading and Citroen Basingstoke. Reading advises change at 100k/ 10 years, no sooner; Basingstoke say that the latest citroen advice is 160k. So - any views as to what the best approach is here? Has the best advice shifted from that f recent years which was to have it done at 90 - 100k?

Seen 3 busted belts on 2.2s between 90 and 100k.

2.0 not so sure. Depends on whether yours is 8/16 valve, but given the track record of the engines, unless you intend to have the car at 180k I'd do it sooner rather than later.

As old'uns said, if in doubt.....

If you car does not get written off by the broken belt, the same garages that gave you advice will be handing you a big bill, whilst rubbing their hands together. Have a look on this forum for the thread about the C8 with the broken belt, written by user Pam C8.

80k or ten years is the official but that depends on what year and engine the car is,

that's for the 2.0 HPI from 2000/04 and the HDI is 100k for the same age.

im sure c5 book says 8yrs or 80k if towing or 100k normal

Autodata still have it at 100K or ten years - but at 80K in adverse conditions. If it were mine at 93K, I would be getting worried.
