Guest digitalinkjetman Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I very stupidly started the car last weekend with some of the sensors on the engine disconnected! I was cleaning the oil and derbies off the front of the engine! Anyway now I have an Anti-pollution fault showing and the service & engine warning lights on. There is no loss of power, if anything it goes better!! I would like to reset the fault though, I have disconnected the battery etc! but it still shows!!! I look forward to your replys. Quote

There is probably one connector that is still off but you haven't spotted it. All I can suggest is that you get a can of contact cleaner and another of compressed air and work round all the connectors you removed one by one. Check they are clean and properly fastened. Check also that the link rod to the swirl control valve has not come loose. Quote
techbod Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 its a pig when the code is logged and you know nothing is wrong but with newer cars the code has to be cleared with a diagnostic tool but I wish you have a little luck on it being something you didn't reconnect and it solves you issue. Quote
Guest KEITHBRADLEY Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I use a Fault Code Reader frum argos RAC Fault Code Reader.740/2742 £69.89 .it Reads and resets fault codes •Reset 'check' engine light the book & cd explains what the code isi have a citroen c5 3.0 v6 and the OBDII plug is in the glove box in fuses box Quote
techbod Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 the AA tool is a good one but no good to Citroen/Peugeot aged before 2001. Quote
Randombloke Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 the AA tool is a good one but no good to Citroen/Peugeot aged before 2001. What about Citroen/Peugeot Diesel before 2004? 2001 is the mandatory date for EOBD for petrol, and 2004 for diesel. Quote
techbod Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 it wont work for the diesel till after 2004 same as most of the diagnostics tools out there. Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Where you cleaning the engine with gunk/degreaser then water/jetwash if so you might have water in one of the connectors causing a short. Pull everyone off and wd them then do a full bsi reset and wake it up properly so as not to spike the software in fact id leave the battery off overnight as sometimes these have a mind of ther own. Seem to remember learning somewhere that if you turn the ignition on and off so many times it will reset it just cant bloody remember Quote
techbod Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 switching the ignition on and off 20 times " as fast as you can " was the norm but doesn't always work, worth a try though Quote
Guest digitalinkjetman Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Cheers lads for the help! Its still on?! I serviced it yesterday and removed the air intake pipework so I could get to it all better to see if I had a gunk on any of the pins! Managed to find that the oil down the front of the engine is from the air intake / recirculate system leaking because it was all lose! Just been out to sainsburys and it flashed up Derv filter blocked now?? I guess I should change it just to be sure, but the car still drives like a rocket! Oh, I did put some redex through last week, don't know if that caused it, but its done 2k miles and several tanks of fuel! Quote
