Guest Leading Hand Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Hi there, my much loved 2003 HDi 110 estate has been bulletproof thus far but today the heater blower refuses to work, when you press the + or - the little fan icon does not fill up or "colour in" so to speak, if you press the air recirc button you can hear the air con clutch click in but upon pressing the "econ" button again no response, both the air con and heating were working great up to this point, any ideas as to the fault, and estimated cost? It's going into Citroen main dealer tomorrow and i don't want to have my trousers pulled down! Many thanks  Quote

It's going into Citroen main dealer tomorrow and i don't want to have my trousers pulled down! Many thanks B) i had a blower fan problem with my C5 VTR except the fan remained on full whack... you couoldn't adjust the temp at all of slow the fan down. I replaced a little unit which is up above the pedals right toward the back of the centre console. I managed to source a valeo part for £50.00. The unit itself is cigarette sized and has some flat metal prongs on it. It responsible for temp of the climate control etc. If you search on youtube there is a video on it. Well worth pulling the old unit out an having a look. Citroen initially quoted me £500.00 for the fault. It not hard to replace just quite tricky as you can't see you have to feel around Quote
Guest timboo Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 found this from a forum..... explains wat i managed to do pretty much Gerry Fixed it at last!!!! It was the blower fan controller. This is a unit about the size of acigarette packet and is found in the driver's footwell on the left, fairlyhigh up. Thanks to Paul at the Citroen Centre for telling me this. Taking the unit out is awkward but not impossible. There are two sockets, coloured green. One has a pair of thick wires (presumably power out to theheater fan motor), the other has two thick and four thin wires, I guess thatthis is power in and the vanbus multiplex control in and out. You need a 6mmsocket but I would recomment using a magnetic one in case you drop thefixing self tappers behind the carpet. Most of the bulk of the unit is a large aluminium heatsink There is a powertransistor inside the unit but I marmalised it trying to unsolder it. Theheatsink clearly seems to work when a soldering iron is used. Having marmalised it, I had to buy a new unit. Much ferreting and phoningaround and I found that it is Valeo part number 509355 or Citroen partnumber 6441L2. I would recommend Neil Goodall at Vantage Citroen parts 0208 544 9997. Hekeeps most Citroen bits. Cost is less than 40 squids plus the dreaded VAT. Hope this helps all the other people who have reported thae same fault. Itis probably no more than a ten minute job to change the unit for a new one. Randombloke Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 We also have the detailed instructions for fixing this fault on this forum but because people never search and always start a new thread we actually have the same faults fixed and replied to several times over. We need a moderator for this forum to merge threads when they are about the same fault, so all the expertise ends up in the same place not scattered all over the forum. Quote

paul.h Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I do not wish to high jack the original posting subject but there are some good ideas being raised. We are being blessed by a lot of welcome new members recently who maybe do not think about searching, a pinned note on each page on how to search (if it is not obvious) or one that goes to new members may help. Maybe we could consider a pinned post on common problems. Quote
