Hi, Help is needed, following a car wash the fuse box and main computer became faulty,

the next morning the car had to be towed to dealer, alarm, lights, locks & wipers

intermittendtly comming on, but no engine etc even with RAC jump leads,

Fuse box and computer were replaced, then following another car wash! a few days

later, headlights and wipers came on while it was parked in Sainsburys, but I was able to drive car home before electronics

had been damaged for second time, took off battery & next morning took to dealers

they are talking to Citroen, but have had the car since for 3 weeks, with no proper answer yet,

Car is DEC 2005 C5 1.6 HDI CX Estate

If anyone has idea to help me / dealer / Citroen please help,

Dont use the carwash problem solved

No its obvious that you have water ingress somewhere

How long have you owned the car

has it been in a accident and had a bad repair

has the dealer checked all the seals

I would start by removing the panel under the wipers and checking also the windscreen seal

If it is like the mark 1 C5 they are prone to rain going in to the driver's footwell and there are posts on this. Maybe on its way down the bulkhead it passes and wets the electrics.

Thanks Paul, it has not got the earliest body style, & no water comes through to the footwell, but water is probobly getting in somewhere, have you ever heard of this particular symptom where things start going wrong a couple of minutes after the

engine is switched off, even when the ignition is left on and the doors open.

This morning I was going to try to use the car again, however early this morning

I have recieved a call from the dealer that either the rain yesterday or putting the

panels back has caused the problem to reoccur overnight, just a thought but have you heard of replacement Computer units being faulty?

Just a daft one but have they checked the comm unit as a faulty com unit will put the lights on and cause trouble with other electrical system. What panels have they had off also what is the lexia saying

HI, I think it is mostly the dashboard and glove compartment panels and also

inside the engine, many thanks, Nick.

I was very suprised at the quantity of electronics.

Hi, Thanks again, problem was water behind tail lights, caused towbar connector to sit

in water.

I am pleased you have got it sorted. The towbar electric boxes on our car I stuck part way up the spare wheel well using a silicon sealant as a glue (it was lying about in the garage) and held them in place with squashed newspaper whilst it set. This was so they were out of the way but the electrics would not get immersed in water if there were a leak.
