Good Evening

I have a Citroen Pluriel 2004/53. I am second owner (had it 2 years). When should you change the timing belt? Current mileage is 64,500.

When it rains heavily I get a small puddle in passenger well - occurs when I move the car - comes in at bottom front of door. Also water comes in the left hand side of boot so have to ensure I have no papers in the boot! Has anyone successfully fixed leaks of this nature?

Finally - I know seem to have oil leak - so need to top up whilst waiting for mechanic. What type of oil is best.

Many thanks

Did you say which engine you have? If it's the 1.4HDI then Citroen recommend the belt is changed at 150K or ten years - but it would be sensible to change it long before then. If it were mine I would want to do it around 75K.

Any semi-synth oil of 5/30 or 5/40 would be fine in your engine.

Hi John

Thanks for your response - answer to your question and I need further clarification

Engine is petrol, 1360 cc

When you say 150K and 75K - do you mean kilometres or 150 and 75 thousand miles?

Thanks

The car maintenance book with our 2003 C3 gives timing belt change for petrol engines at 75000 miles for normal use or 48000 miles for severe use so I would be getting worried if I were you. As an absolute minimum I would remove the top belt cover and have a look at the belt - it does not take long.

I also have a water leak in the boot which I intend having sorted ib the next couple of weeks. I recently spoke to a Citroen mechanic who explained that Citroen have identifed the reason for the leak and have produced a modified plastic trim that is fitted to the rear of the car. The trim is the one that goes across the bottom of the rear window and which has CITROEN molded into it. I am assured the leak will continue without this being replaced. Hope this is helpful.
