Guest 2005HDIVTR Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Hi all. I purchased a 2005 Citroen C5 from a London Citroen dealer about 2 Months ago. It is a 2.2HDI Auto VTR. (27,000 miles) About a few days later the brakes started squealing and since it has really annoyed me! The car is simply beautiful and a thrill to drive but every time I brake, heads turn and I become the center of unwanted attention. It has also kept the neighbors awake in my street ever since. Since it is approved used - it has 1 yr warranty. I phoned London Citroen up and told them about the problem. They said that they would fix it free of charge and arranged for a driver to pick it up. It came back and for about half a day the brakes seemed fine and made no noise. Soon after, they started squealing at the same intensity. I called them up again and told my salesman about the problem and told him to give me a free brake pad replacement voucher - which I now have. This is where I stand, any advice on how to fix this solution? Help greatly appreciated! Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 And it's probably the rear ones. My C5 went through a period of squealing brakes. I removed the pads, cleaned out all the dust, applied some copper grease to the rear of the pads, and it's been fine ever since. Quote
paul.h Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Have a look on the Problems and Fixes page at the pinned post on removal of the rear calipers, there may be corrosion between the caliper and suspension arm which needs cleaning off. Quote
