Guest suspekt Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Hello, Just bought a lovely 02 C5 2.0 HPi Exclusive and got it home and now it won't start. It starts fine when jumped and lights etc come on brightly so there is some charge in battery. When I turn the key it tries to turn once but doesn't. When i then release the key all the interior lights flicker off then on as if it's just reset. Clock then reads zero and vehicle won't start. The renmote keys have also stopped working, this could be batteries but thought they could need replacing. Can you think of anything else that could be causing this? I have Trafficmaster. Don't know if thats effecting it? Is this a common problem? I have had a BX, ZX, AX, Xantia and Xsara and have loved them all but after just a few hours with my C5, i am losing faith! p.s. Have no warranty, was sold as seen and seemed to run and start fine till I got it home! Have I been shafted? Please help! Anthony Quote
paul.h Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Could be the battery, check its voltage. On our 2.2 hdi if there is less than about 11.6 volts it will not turn the engine over fast enough to start. I have read here there is a minimum rpm for the engine to fire but do not know if this applies to the petrol ones. Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Get your battery load tested free at any motorist discount store as it sounds like your battery is goosed Quote
