Johndouglas Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 To be sure, you need a Lexia session on your engine at the dealer's. That will pin-point the trouble. However I'll leave it to you to decide whether your trouble is similar to my daughter's Xsara. They both share the same engines. Often when she was driving the warning bleep would sound, the stop light would come on and the temperature gauge would go to the far end of the scale. After a few minutes all would be normal again. By changing the temperature sender in the engine it put it right. Quote

Guest annette12 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hello, thank you very much for that, great help, again thanks.Well seems to have done the trick, as this fault only starts to happens when it turns cold, I unplugged the sensor, and on the male and female end of the plug I sprayed with a good electrical contact cleaner, this morning it started with no propblems at all, and would not do that before. so give that a try before you buy a sensor. And make sure you use a good electrical contact cleaner not anything like WD40,,again thanks to all. Quote

paul.h Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 According to Haynes, for petrol and 1.6/2.0 diesel engines, the coolant temperature sensor is located on the coolant outlet housing on the left hand end of the cylinder head. The RTA French manual shows similar for the 2.2 hdi engine. Quote
