Intermittant Non Start And Big List Of Faults! 2.2hdi

hi

i was praising my Dads 2.2 c5 hdi a few weeks ago and have had nothing but grief since!

yeah, the car tows great, good fuel economy, plenty of power, and very comfortable.......when it wants to.

it will (RANDOMLY) completely Refuse to start, displays "engine immobiliser fault" and wont start. A few lock and unlock of the doors cures this sometimes! but other times the car has to be left for a few hours and then will be fine again. radio comes on when it wants to, windows go up and down when they want to, trafficmaster comes to life when it wants to, suspension goes up and down when it wants to, air recirculation comes on when it wants to, diesel "disappears" on the gauge then reappears a few days later, sometimes i even get 999 mpg............ i could go on.

i took the car to citroen and paid £42.95 for a diagnostic check, and guess what....no fault codes showed up. so all perfectly normal then!

Any help or a point in the right direction would be great. Im guessing power supply/Earth/control unit fault somewhere??

Anyway, best go and recover my dads car from tesco car park AGAIN!!

Thanks Sam

Check the battery to see if fully charged. I think there was a post recently with odd electrical problems and I think it was due to the towbar electrics getting water in the 12n/s sockets but not sure - worth checking they are clean and no earth faults though.

I was having similar problems with my car.turns out the battery terminal clamp on the earth side was loose. ie not making a good connection.

Just might be the same with yours.worth a look...or even a bad earth somewhere.
