lawser Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Anybody have any idea if Fault code P1113 would stop my C5 from running ? Quote
Guest kimosabe Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Sorry I cant help you mate but, came across this thread. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/index.php?showtopic=8213Or do a search on this forum for same code.Good luckDave Quote
paul.h Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 A google search brought up the BBA reman website which for P1113 gives P1113 Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor circuit open/shortEDC16C3 - Diesel high pressure regulation circuit. Rail pressure below minimum pressure So you could have a problem with the intake air temperature sensor or low fuel pressure which would possibly be the fuel pump (and would tie up with the thread linked by kimosabe). If the car had a carburettor and a choke it reminds me of problems when the choke is not set right so it would run just for a short while - on a fuel injection car this relates to the temperature measurement not being right so giving the wrong fuel mixture. A temperature sensor check is easy, check the connector/pins are clean and wiring is ok. If you have a code reader that gives live data then you can read the temperature from the sensor. Haynes gives the sensor location (page 4A.14)as integral with the throttle housing for the direct injection engine but on the underside or front of the throttle housing for the other petrol engines. From what I have seen on this forum a new hpi fuel pump is expensive so hope it is not that. If you are in the AA/RAC with something like homestart, they may be able to help diagnose the fault. Quote
lawser Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Maybe a couple more pointers; When i put the key in the ignition, i can here the pump priming.when i start the car there's obviously just enough fuel to run for a second or two then stops. If i try to start the car again without turning the key anticlockwise it just turns over without starting. When i turn the key anticlockwise & try & restart you can hear the pump kick in again & the car starts for a second or two then cuts out. Every time the car stops the traffic control kicks in & i cannot turn it off....Used to be able to by pressing the button once !Is there a relay for the pump or is this just for the initial priming of the pump ?Would the fuel pump prime if it was knackered or does this point toward something else ?Any help appreciated, Paul P.S. Don't get me started regarding AA or Greenflag both not been any help whatsoever....Needless to say membership not being renewed for 2011 Quote
paul.h Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 With the hpi engine there are 2 fuel pumps - one in the fuel tank which is probably the one you are hearing, and the high pressure one at the engine end which may be the problem. However, if the fuel tank pump is not working then the hp pump will not have anything to pump either but then you may not even get a few seconds running. Haynes shows the pressure measurement taken after the hp pump and pressure regulator. From the pictures, it looks as if the hp pump is mechanically driven so it will not have any fuses/relays. When I had the fuel pump fail on a Saab 9000 (about 150k miles), the engine would turn over but not start and you could not hear the pump in the tank. The RAC confirmed voltage at the pump and also by squirting a starting fluid in to the air intake at the throttle body it ran it for a few seconds which confirmed the fuel supply was the problem. Here there was only a pump in the tank to replace. How many miles has your car done ? Quote
lawser Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Only just over 50K miles, the car will turn over & start as mentioned earlier but only for a couple of secs !The AA came out & read the codes as above P1113 was the only one present. Quote
lawser Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Ok, if the car starts for a second or two every time, should i assume that the low pressure pump is ok ? How often does the low pressure pump actually kick in ? ( I can physically hear it every time i start the car )Could it be pointing in the direction of the air intake sensor itself or high pressure pump ? Cheers, Lawser Quote
coastline taxis Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 does the car start first time or do you have to crank it a few times before it fires up also is there any smoke coming out of the exhaust. If you look at the engine the fuel lines on the drivers side towards the bulk head youl see what looks like a tyre valve (schrieder valve). put the ignition on and press a srewdriver down the schrieder valve and see if the fuel is coming out under pressure (try to collect the petrol so that you can check it for contamination) try this a few times. Have seen the intank pump go lazy a few times they still prime but dosnt get the pressure up a tell tale sign is the petrol you get out starts to turn black Quote
lawser Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Already checked the schraeder valve & fuel is definately coming out, but never noticed colour.Garage has suggested that it may be immobiliser, i have checked by using spare key but symptoms stil exist.Car turns over no probs & starts as it should but cuts out a couple of secs after, seems to be just enough fuel to prime system as when i turn key again it will turn over but not start...Only when i turn key back & fully clockwise does it turn over & start for a few secs. When it cuts out it's immediate no spluttering or coughing always after a couple of secs. Quote
coastline taxis Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Sorry but it sounds like your high pressure pump on the engine is goosed then. Are you in the tyme and wear area as ive got one you could try before you buy Quote
lawser Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Many thanks for your help & offer, unfortunately i'm up in the aberdeen area. The car has gone back to Citroen....This time once fixed i'm flogging for another marque...fed up with Shitroen cars & the lack of cooperation from Citroen aberdeen. Cheers, Paul Quote
