Hi

I have a diesel c5 exclusive on a 05 plate,on friday evening i went over a speed bump, not particularly fast and the engine managment light came on,lost all power, managed to park the car but it will not start again, called rac but he was unable to get it going,he seemed to think that the fuel pump was not working, maybe fuel cut off switch but could not find it,any ideas would be gratefully received.

So if the lift pump isn't running, fuel isn't getting up to the engine.

do you know how to fix it?.

The lift pump is in the fuel tank. You'll find it under the rear seat. Look for a big plastic bung which needs to be prised out. Check that there's power there when the ignition is switched on. If there is and the pump doesn't work, it probably needs changing. Disconnect the fuel lines and the electrical connector. The pump is held in by a collar.

AFAIK - the pump only gets power initially when it's first switched on, so check that first. Also there is a relay under the bonnet which is prone to failing.

When you say 'lost all power' - is this just the engine not running or do you also have no electrical power ? What electrical equipment is still working, does the starter motor turn over, etc ?
