I'm getting a bit fed up of this C5 of mine, every week so far, something fails on it or plays up. Today has made me want to sell it and buy another Mondeo. Anyway I'm rambling

Had an issue today that everytime a door was opened the boot would pop open, or when I locked the doors inside the car, well it also decided to do it whilst I was driving on my way home. Pulled over got out the car, shut the boot, then heard the doors lock (engine running, mobile on the passenger seat). long story short, 40mins later, a trip from the AA man and a very upset 2yr old girl I was back in. Is this a common fault, it seems like it could be water ingress in the boot switch to open it, that is earthing out? Going to pull it all appart tomorrow regardless, but a bit of advice before hand is always useful. Failing that a can of petrol and matches wouldn't go amiss!

Yes i had the very same problem but i fixed it.Belive me it was so easy all i had to do was fire me mum in the boot and get her to pull on a bit of orange farmers bailing twine. As it goes i think i have seen some thing on this forum about that so you may have to walk a little more in to the woods its on one of the pages. If i come across it again i will link back to it from here.

I've had this problem and solved it by replacing the rear glass release switch.

The OP needs to sell the C5 and buy another Mondeo.

I had a Mondeo for a short time and it was the biggest pile of snot i ever had the pleasure of sitting me stinker in then i drove a new one about a month back and thought there still behind the times. I think the only good thing i could say bout a Mondeo is that there are plenty of spare parts to be found in the scrap yard.

Hello Haza406

Did you fix this problem? I have the same problem as you do. Opening a door, turning the engine on, using the aut. gear, or something electrical inside the door, would make the boot open automaticly. I own a C5 V6 3.0 EXCUSIVE though but i think the boot is the same though.

removing the boot switch and drying it out is what i had to do. a bit of grease inside before you close it up helps.

it is due to either condensation or a leak from the boot where the spoiler ( if you have one fitted) connects in the centre. there is nothing to it. open the boot and remove the cover. there are four bolts holding the chrome in place, two under the hand grip cover, unplug the button and pull of. the switch cover is only push clipped on.
