Guest timmo Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hi all, new on here and to Citroens....only used to classic cars! Right, just got a 51 plate HDi 2.0 110 132k on the clock got a couple of problems 1st, when starting from cold, Antipollution message comes up..no other warning lights then goes off, might come on once more then goes out and seems ok after that. 2nd when cold dosent want to rev above 2800 like it has a rev limiter on it? not very good as i have to go up quite a steep hill straight away and sruggles to get up it!....once it warms up its fine, will rev over that no problem. It also seems to take a very long time to warm up to "normal" temp...maybe 10 miles or so, any help would be gratefully recieved Thanks Tim Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Ok forget about your second problem its caused by the ecu putting the engine into limp mode to help stop anymore damage. once you sort your 1st problem out the second will disapear. You really need to get the car plugged in (try listing what area your in as someone might do it for you) Things you could try but these are just gueses Check your water level 1st thing in a morning b4 you start the engineReplace temp sensorcheck fuel line for air getting in Also any other fault no matter how small they are put them on as they might be linked Quote
Randombloke Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 t also seems to take a very long time to warm up to "normal" temp...maybe 10 miles or so, any help would be gratefully recieved Is there an oil temperature gauge? Does the water warm up first then the oil, or do they both warm up slowly together? If the latter I would suspect the thermostat, as Coastline has pointed out. Check all hoses for air leaks, especially the swirl control valve one. Quote
Guest timmo Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 OK thanks for the advice, im in Cornwall near Penzance, so if anyone can help that would be great. The oil and water temp rise slowly together. Another thing i found out, i took the lid off the air box as i wondered if it may have been anything to do with the MAF. when i looked inside the only thing i saw was water in the bottom.....forgive my lack of knolledge of modern cars, but shouldn't there be an air filter in there?? i empied the water and put a few small holes in the bottom for drainage...could this be the cause of any problems? Until i can get the chance to get a haynes for it, where is the temp sender? and where would the fuel lines be leaking, and where are they LOL. Im used to carbs, points and condensers etc not all this electronic stuff LOL Cheers Tim Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 forgive my lack of knolledge of modern cars, but shouldn't there be an air filter in there?? There should indeed be a concertina paper filter in there - but no water! Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 forget about your fuel lines for the time being. Put a air filter in the car take the hose of the bottom of your intercooler and let it drain overnight to see what comes out. Then give it a oil change and engine flush and see what that does Quote
