it used to be a good idea unfortunately the sensor is stuck inside the wheel and is battery operated so if the batteries run low its down to the tyre fitter for the fix ( not a very clever toy ) could be the tyre place has this tool http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...2GB283%26sa%3DN it might just need resetting

Electric Windows,strange One This
techbod replied to deano1970's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
unfortunately the only way is to get at the wiring between the door to find the break in the wire -
your only going to get generic engine codes with a basic scanner so its either lexia 3 which does it all or someone with a similar tool like Sykes pickavant/snap on
-
and wont compare to the DS apart from fuel consumption/repairs/spares lol
-
I have had a few cars an the Lexus ls 400 was a treat, Citroen to me on the otherhand is historical and I like the new look citroen is doing
-
didn't see the minimum fluid level bit and that could be the reason top it up ( im sure its the same procedure as the xantia ) suspension to max height then pour the LHM fluid in and see if it starts to pump the suspension up if the pump didn't work you would hear a very nasty noise :o
-
good thing there and worth noting VSS not being the problem though just the idle differential factor as po506 points out and I just went through my database to figure that one out lol when that link would have explained it all
-
the code would be nice so I don't have to guess but I will anyway, P0506 idle speed control (ISC) system- RPM lower than expected and could be the throttle body needs a clean out the code has a few meanings but in this case I would use "throttle valve tight/sticking" as the most common because of the way the emissions are on these cars and the pipe that feeds the unused gasses from the engine back into the throttle body and that's where the excess oil builds up, anti pollution fault and illuminates the engine management light that would be expected because the engine was about to shut off with the ignition key still on and the low RPM would set the code

is your alarm/remote plip/central locking /dead lock work, the reason im asking is I just did one on a 1997 and the problem there was water in the passenger foot well and it corroded the connections to the alarm/central locking plip (remote key fob ), the leak was from below the windscreen caused by excess leaves and dirt blocking the drains and the strange part is it was leaking down through the center tunnel ( the part where the gear stick sits ) I took the passenger seat out and partly removes the carpet and had to cut the sound proofing to get at the leak point ( the rust marking on the sound proofing shows where the leak was coming from ) I chopped the bad connector out and directly rewired and I recommend soldering the wires, engine running on with key out could be related to the fuel pump cut off switch on the fuel pump or the immobilizer and alarm issue -
im basing it on my own cars suspension because I haven't had the pleasure of playing with the newer toys lol, however the plastic part on the rear is the height leveler ( should it fail the suspension goes all the way up and down only ) and there isn't one on the front so either the pump isn't working or the serpentine belt is off that's what makes the pump work, also I believe there are more electrical things on the C5 than the xantia and the suspension can be electronically set where the xantia cant im aware the XM is similar because you can put it into sport mode
-
The cause was in fact a cam follower bearing - it came out of the rocker and released the rocker which in effect stopped the exhaust valve from opening. worth remembering for future references
-
ride height corrector is more in the middle of the car so doubtful you hit that but worth checking all the return lines from the suspension in that area, what I would do is bleed the system ( raise suspension to full height then back all the way down ) keep engine running and undo the bleed screw do that a couple of times and see how it goes
-
im interested in this problem so will be looking into it, things that are of concern are the high fuel delivery rate and heard this was an issue because any drop in pressure will cause that so this might be a good place to start, im not a diesel man my self but don't dislike them but wouldn't buy one ( the cars are the same ) its just that engine and the cost of repairs when they go wrong. edit* found this and might be of interest with this problem http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=1535

don't get yours hope up too high yet because it could be an election looser for labour so plenty of time for a U turn  as yet personally I dont see it happening because its a green tax scam and not popular with most overtaxed drivers today
-
the car was locked wheels strait and on level ground crazy thing isn't it, must be a gremlin in the system because that would soon run the battery flat if it happened in the garage over night

Buying A Berlingo Hdi 2.0 Desire 2 Questions
techbod replied to newtoberlingo's topic in Berlingo - General
clutch peddle being hard to press goes a long way back with the Citroen and many have their reasons even mine is like that and its down to the clutch tensioner in the cable just where it goes through the bulk head and it sticks so you have to pump the peddle to ensure its going to work because its hard to change gear otherwise, the fix for mine is a new cable which has the tensioner built in and a pig to fit, later cars have hydraulic operated clutches supplied via a slave cylinder on the tranny and might need bleeding or it has a leak 57k is a little low for a worn clutch depending on the driver of course but it has to be taken into account and could be used as a tool to reduce the price  , service history is important and check for any previous damage repair as you do ;) -
sounds familiar the VW TDi does the same but normally caused by mods trying to push the turbo to its limits and the oil cant circulate fast enough to compensate, as mods are not the issue here I would say the orifices in the oil ways might be the thing also the oil pump and strainer due to using cheap oil and not changing the oil filter when renewing the oil, I note the VW can have a larger oil filter to help with this perhaps worth a look on this engine

sounds like a bad earth to me or even the ignition barrel black box very common to destruct because its plastic so the terminals tend to short out, http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/ele...t/ignition1.JPG -
strange state of affairs and goes back to the older cars and the advice was fill to the half way mark that way you don't have too much and not too little, I would personally be checking if there was a recall or even a TSB on it within Citroen techs area
-
did you raise the suspension to full height when doing the job? did you start the engine and drop it to normal level? it could be stuck, strange things those C5s I watched one a while back out side nettos and the front suspension was doing press-ups all by its self when the owner was in the shop and I would put that down to electronics being faulty

Slight Traces Of Oil In My Expansion Tank
techbod replied to stonecold316uk21's topic in Problems and Fixes
a heavy duty antifreeze isn't a good thing because it causes more problems than it fixes. 1/ it over cools the water and can give a false impression the system is cool and that throws bogus fault codes, 2/ it rots the seals and could cause damage to the radiator and any alloy component, 3/ basically its like giving your car an overdose on treatment, the above is probably the reason for the oil residue and isn't uncommon so probably the full flush and new antifreeze will be best -
Slight Traces Of Oil In My Expansion Tank
techbod replied to stonecold316uk21's topic in Problems and Fixes
if oil were leaking into the coolant then believe me you would see more than a little oil mix in the header tank, this might be a silly question but its been done before ( has anyone put oil in the expansion tank/header ) best thing to do is a full coolant flush and put new antifreeze in -
a friend is the best choice financially as the dealer always find something else wrong and that's when the wallet gets a bashing, they charge £45+ vat just for a diagnostic and that's not to fix it so costs tend to run away but I wish you good luck in the fix
-
depends on the garage really the coolant temp sensors the most common because its linked to the engine fan so I would let them sort it "unless you've already bought it" and if that's the case ill help where I can but look for a friend who knows cars to assist you most of these problems are simple to sort out with a little knowledge :o

PM not a problem ill help where I can :o
