  1. My dad took delivery of an AYGO Petrol with MMT through my recommendation back in October. I told him he needed to save money and if he really needed a second car let it be one that does the job. No questions asked. He is starting to like it. He complained it was far too basic at first. Yes it is...... Mum absolutely adores it. I think its a really nice car - I believe it could be a shade cheaper though. With optional air con/met paint and that wacky gearbox tipped the £9k scale. Bit of a growl to the 3 cylinder engine. Bit underpowered - no rev counter makes drivability a bit tough. Hey you don't buy them for pace. A very sensible car if ever there was one. The only gripe was availability of colours. We wanted one in light blue and would have to wait 4 months so we had to get a dark grey one and negotiated £750 off as a result. Fair enough. I think wozza would have preferred the diesel version. How do mate?!
  2. Er no. I'd rather buy a timebomb. Buy a new car.
  3. How many miles? This might make a difference whether its worth more or less than £1500
  4. Sorry got my facts completely messed up there. Yeah you have Essex plates. Had you got a car registered where you live youd have got a Garden of England plate (G). Sorry mate I cant think of any reason why your car got attacked apart from the chav theory now.
  5. WHAT THE PHUCK! Definately foul play. Where is it you live? South Wales? You think the non local number plates (I recall you have Manc plates) might have something to do with it......... sad concept but true. Either way looking at that pic is not nice.
  6. Fcuking unbelvable chain of events on this board! Sorry to hear your plight Ciaran. Theres too many daft cnuts who see it fit to pour misery on other peoples lives and get a kick out of it. ASBOs have as much kudos as gaining GSCE's
  7. 92bhp - 144 lb ft to be converted to 122bhp and 188lb/ft? That is very impressive for an indirect injection diesel of that engine capacity. In its heyday - you'd need at least a 2.5l TD engine to get near them figures. Now you can get 1.6 litre diesels outputting such date. In most cases a converted engine should make for a more driveable car and therefore improves MPG of between 5-10 percent. Engines are strong enough to withstand a bhp upgrade such as this.
  8. What is this thing about Luxury car tax in Oz? I believe the threshold is around 60,000 Australian Dollars. Bearing in mind the C6 is more than this - how much extra are Australians fleeced?
  9. Typed in the details and these are the absolute maximums. There might be some unfair predudice with it being a taxi...... Does this help? Dealer £2,345 Private £1,445 Part exchange £1,145 Trade £945
  10. What about crash protection for the golf clubs? :P
  11. Nah I drive a 5 door car - I used to drive 3 door cars when I was younger. 3 door cars are not penalised against its equivalent 5 door counterpart are they? Both are as safe as each other. Some people just don't have the need for 5 doors. To some people 3 doors might be impractical and don't have to worry about lugging passengers about. Choice of doors mainly down to personal preference and circumstances.
  12. Of course 3 door cars are safe. Otherwise they would never have been allowed to go on sale.
  13. Lets talk about the 1.9 diesels first. The normally aspirated and turbocharged engines were introduced in 1993 with 1905cc. Noth were indirect injection diesels. THe unblown unit developed 71bhp and 90lb/ft and the blown version (had a turbo AND intercooler) 92bhp and anythign between 144-148lb/ft which in them days was outstanding for a diesel but was not particularly fuel efficient. I had a 306 D Turbo and only managed 40-45mpg. The TURBO Diesel BX never had the above TD engine. That had a turbocharged 1.8 litre engine. The normally aspirated BX had the above normally aspirated diesel. How confusing!!!!! Back to the 1.9s Owners with the normally aspirated diesel say its more fuel efficient and the performance difference is not a handicap. On paper its more economic than the Turbo. The HDi engine is a much more advanced engine than the previous two. Introduced in 2000 it was a 2 litre unit with a turbo only producing 90bhp and 155lb/ft. This was one of the first engines that had common rail technology which is a direct injection process that injects fuel at much higher pressures. This increase performance, optimised economy and emissions and reduced noise. If finances are tight go for the non aspirated diesel but you'd kick yourself if you don't try the HDi version. Comments?
  14. As I was about to say before I pressed "Enter" too soon Are you going to change your 92 for a 110? If so then do it QUICK before the 30 days is up. You can even get your dealer to order a used 110 from another dealership if they don't have one but is it really worth the faff? For a start it's slightly better on fuel and cheaper to insure. Theres only a slight power and torque difference of 18 bhp and lb/ft unless you fancy the extra toys and shelling out more money Also your purchase might be unique in that the first owner wil have absorbed the teething problems thats common with most Citroens. Keep us posted.
  15. Are you gonna change your 92
  16. I had a similar problem with my old C3. Might sound odd but check the switches behind the clutch pedal. It might be permanently pressed fooling the engine electronics that the clutch is in when it fact it ain't. This causes such niceties like engine cutting out and electronics playing silly games only for it to disappear after restarting. Also get the technician to go for a drive with you. You drive and he has the ECU connected to his laptop. After 12 visits in as many weeks - this stance actually worked and the problem was solved. Don;t know what it is with Citroen electronics........
  17. Yeah apparently so. Nethalands has a similar silly rule with Cruise control. ------------------------------------------- Back to Belgium there were cases where people slept at the wheel whilst having cruise control on. Just think a lot of our decisions are made in that country. Makes you wonder don't it
  18. Yeah I'd go with that. THe drive belt powers the air con compresor and when in use creates a bit off drag hence a bit more fuel is used when the air con is activated Don't believe them tree huggers who say air con is a bad thing and drinks juice. On average theres a 3-5% mpg penalty - which is a lot less than having the windows down and a tiny price for comfort (Citroens are fuel efficient vehicles end of). Anyway if one has air con, the onus is on the owner to keep it running at frequent intervals otherwise the lack of use will conk out the system altogether and that means big bills. In my experience Cruise saves petrol provided the conditions are favourable. No point using it in Brecon Beacons or Peak District or in rush hour traffic. At 70 mph the diesel engine is spinning at just over 2000 rpm whish is a shade over peak torque which is most efficient point of engine speed. Wish I had it on mine.... :P Great feature to have. Its banned in Belgium. Pate eating freaks
  19. Has any investigation been made to the ECU's or the COM 2000 which is a small module that aids the electronic devices? Crikey man your trouble sounds bad.
  20. Just that a lot of the French units suffer from electronic glitches, leaks and occasions where the transmission misses gears and slips into safe mode. Sometimes the technicians are unable to rectify the gremlins. All you can do is drive sensibly and ensure the transmission fluid is monitored regularly as all the other lubricants.
  21. Using the manual override will usually produce better fuel economy. In fully automatic mode the unit usually leaves it late to change gear especially with 4 ratios that your car has. The facility wont add any strain on the system. French automatics aren't particularly reliable anyway.
  22. Well done. WHat version did you get? Engine choice?
  23. Its Eolys fluid. It's an an additive derived from Cerium that is mixed in with the fuel which assists in the elimination of particulates. THe additive properties lower the boiling point of the particulates so that they are atomised much more readily.
  24. Ahh Pilsworth - where the Cinema and Bowling place is? Fair play for arranging a meet up and to those who are travelling from Wales and South. Hopefully it will continue for a long time. Pluriel team had one once but I doubt it was repeated. I won't be around that weekend sadly. The pictures of all the C4's on this forum look tasty. The tasty silver VTS Hdi and the leather clad blue one.....yum yum That fella who drives that nice red number with the cool aftermarket spoiler is a bit nutty. Do you know him?! :o The rubbing out of the number plates remind me of the blocking out of the eyes a magazine section....... call it "Readers Drives" in this case.
  25. What? Who ? ME? How do? Anyway I can understand your suprise. It is rare to aggre with with the Petrolhead aka Wozza. I didn't know how lethal them bollards are when driving that speed. Cannot really identify which part of Manc that incident took place. Any ideas? My guess would be outside Lewises and Debenhams. ANyway keep it real mate! Where is the C4 meet up? Or has it taken place?
