No much better than that... A large CLEAR plastic sheet with some eyelets in it A few velcroe strips And a couple of suction cup coat hooks Sounds iffy...but does the job! Ian Orange 03 Senso

Just a couple of things... It costs over £160!!! If you are going to make such an item (for use when driving) why not make it of a clear material so you can use the rear view mirror? Just what type of engine does the Pluriel in the picture have that it needs TWIN exhausts? I have seen Pluriel owners come up with just as good solutions for about £20 Ian Orange 03 Senso

Following on from a comment about the alarm going off if you lock the car too soon after closing the doors I was wondering just how the remote locking protects itself. In some systems a rolling code is used, where the car or key generate a new code every time the car is locked and this will be used to unlock the car. However, if this is how the C3 works then how does the spare key know what the new code is? I have tried locking with 1 key and opening with the other and this works so clearly no unique code has been sent to the key or if it has just sending a barrage of codes (or an override code) to the car can unlock it. In other systems the code is hidden in a wide bandwidth signal so it is not easy to tune in and steal the code. In these systems the same code is sent every time just in a different part of the frequency band. We also know that if you park a couple of Pluriel close to each other and unlock 1 of them the alarm of another will be set off. So the question is does anyone know what trick the Citroen system uses? Ian Orange 03 Senso

And multiplex wiring only allowing so many things to happen at once...so no opening all 4 windows and the roof until after the service interval display has cleared from the dash. Now we just need to find out what version of Windows Microsoft sold to Citroen... Ian Orange 03 Senso

I owned a Fiat before I bought my Pluriel and I can say that Fiat forums are indeed busy places and Fiat dealers vary in quality of customer service just as much as their Citroen counterparts appear to. However one thing that both Fiat and Citroen owners seem to have in common is a passion for their cars, because no matter how much the dealers (and manufacturer) may let them down there are enough redeeming features of the vehicles that make them loved. My 2003 (53) pluriel has now done 5000 miles and so far no leaks despite the torrential rain. However I have paint peel on the bonnet and bumper. Small spots of the top coat have peeled off leaving the undercoat on show all over the bonnet and bumper. Awaiting the dealer assessment but it looks very strange. I have never in 100,s of 1000’s of miles of driving seen this happen. Has any one else had to invoke the paint warrentee? Richard Harris

Just 1 of the things you have to get used to with sensodrive is controlling the clutch biting point with the accelerator. Not enough and the the clutch does not engage, too much and you go hurtling off. You would think if the car is controlling when to bring the clutch up you would not get wheel spin but if you judge the biting point incorrectly or switch from slowing down to wanting some power you can achieve squealing tyres...almost makes you believe there is a powerful engine under the bonnet! Almost. Ian Orange 03 Senso

Supposed to have had the glass height adjusted today to stop the front quarter light pulling the seals off. When the car was returned the arches were not located correctly and the passenger door glass did not sit flush against the seals every time the door was shut. The only way to make sure the glass was in the seal was to open the window shut the door then wind up the window. It seems they have moved the whole windscreen seal and thrown lots of things out of alignment rather than change the glass height. They have fixed the quarterlight problem and generated at least 3 new ones. Taking the car back tomorrow to explain what is wrong (even though it is pretty obvious). Ian Orange 03 Senso

Ask them for the names and phone numbers of the owners of the ones they have fixed, or if they will not give out the phone numbers ask them to make the calls from the dealer and you speak to the owners. That way you can hear it from the owners rather than a dealer. Ian Orange 03 Senso

Maybe a lot of your problems are dealer related. My Pluriel had 1 owner and 5000 miles on the clock when I bought it from a non Citroen dealer. Part of the purchase deal I agreed with the dealer was that it had all outstanding Citroen recalls done. This work was all performed by a Citroen dealer in Essex. It was this same dealer that repaired the roof after the catches failed 70MPH causing the roof to burst open and not close properly. I have since had the lastest generation of seals fitted at a Citroen dealer in Hertfordshire. So my car was originally supplied by a Citroen dealer in Ipswich (then sold to me by a non Citroen dealer) and has been worked on by Citroen garages in Essex and Hertfordshire. Whilst your contract for the car's purchase is with the original dealer any warranty work is covered by Citroen and can be performed by ANY of their dealer network. So far the Citroen dealers I have contacted have been as helpful as Citroen allow them (i.e waiting for parts). I would find another Citroen garage who know the meaning of customer service and get any car service and warranty work performed by them. (From the Citroen website it looks like you have 2 other dealers in a 40 mile radius of Exeter so maybe give them a go). Ian Orange 03 Senso

The latest seals have meant less water gets in but they are not 100% watertight. Also the seal design stores water so whilst the car may not leak you can open a window 2 or 3 days after some rain (and the car not being used) and still get a refreshing face wash! I recommend an emergency stop before opening any windows as this sloshes most of the stored water down the windscreen. You can look on the email forum of pretty much any soft top car and find stories of leaks (and other problems), BMW Z3, MGF, Porsche Boxster etc etc Boxster list of problems http://www.986faq.com/10-0/problems.asp Z3 leaks http://forum.bmwboard.com/forum/showthread...s=&threadid=540 MGF issues http://www.mgcars.org.uk/MGF/mgfindex.htm Ian Orange 03 Senso

The autotrader website www.autotrader.co.uk has a what's it worth button and this gives the following... (this assumed 1800 miles on the clock) What you pay for one from a dealer £7,409 What you pay from a private seller £7.047 What you would get as a part exchange £6,410 What the trade would pay for one £6,214 Cost new £9,870 You could also look on the Citroen website and see how much dealers are asking for them by doing a used car search. This was put down to the earth lead being disconnected by Citroen dealers for "safety reasons". Those reasons being the car is not watertight and the electrics are less likely to short with the earth not connected to the radio. It would be interesting to know what happens if you get a 3rd party radio/cd fitted (by someone like Halfords) and if connecting the earth lead will invalidate the warranty. Reset the averages on a regular basis (every petrol fill up or the start of a journey) then you know what distance the MPH and MPG are averaging over. It would be helpful if this was mentioned in the owners handbook. Ian Orange 03 Senso

There are some cars that get you from A to B and have no personality, never go wrong. Then there are other cars with bags of personality demand lots of attention and are a bit quirky. The same is true of car owners and when you mix the 2 things together you get owners and cars that match and those that don't. This is the 2nd soft top I have owned and just when you think all of the problems are not worth it you get a sunny day and you are reminded just why it is all worth it. The thing is with the Pluriel it is not just the sunny days that remind of the cars good points. Yes it has it's problems, but there is no other car that can do ALL of the things Pluriel can or looks like a Pluriel. It is a unique package of pleasure and pain just like most car owners. Sorry to hear that gar, but if you get to see a car that has never leaked, like Mavericks you can see straight away what the difference is. The leaking has NOTHING to do with the seals (ok the latest seals are do not let in as much water but they still let some in), there are cars with 1st generation seals that do not leak. The leaking or not is to do with how tight a fit the arch is against the windscreen. If you can see rubber between the arch and screen it is likely the car will let in water at some point. If there is no rubber visible then no water gets in. If you replace the arches (make them a couple of mm longer) or the mounting point of the front latch on the arch you may cure a leaking car otherwise I have not seen any examples from anyone on this forum where new seals and window adjustments have cured leaks 100%. You mean that lovely sound of creaking glass! Yes I have that, just waiting for the wrong combination of pressure and heat expansion/contraction to crack the glass. But this could be fixed by lowering the closed postion by a mm. Most car windows have height and lateral adjustment...it is just more relevant in vehicles with no frames to support the glass. I will try and get some before and after pics. Ian Orange 03 Senso

My V5C form describes the car as C3 Pluriel Auto and says it is category M1, not that I can find out what category M1 is anywhere Ian Orange 03 Senso

It seems to me it is a question of WHEN not IF it leaks again. Have Citroen contacted owners of cars that have never leaked to actually see the difference between these and those that leak no matter how many seals you replace? If every car leaked then you could say it was a design fault. However, we know that some don't, which means they can be made watertight. But does this mean faulty cars can be fixed? One more thing...gar, check they have not raised the windows too much so that the seals get pulled off when you shut the doors, mine is going back to have the windows adjusted for that next week. In their efforts to make my car watertight it seems the garage have raised the height of the windows too much. The effect of this is to pull the rubber away from the winscreen pillar where the top of the door glass meets the car. It seems all 3 glass panels in the side of the car (rear window, front window and the glass the wing mirror sits in) can be height adjusted. So my car is booked on for some window adjustment next week to fix this. This height adjustment may also be the reason that fully open windows sit above the body line rather than flush. In other cars (Ford Ka) the ECO mode cuts the chiller in and out as opposed to having it running all the time. Ian Orange 03 Senso (Pluriel)

The Pluriel has had at least 4 Citroen recalls for W.F.O.C. (warranty free of charge) work. If you want to know what your car has had done you can either ask a Citroen dealer as the central computer is supposed to have a log or you can look on the back of the fusebox cover, which you will find in the lockable glovebox. I am aware of the following codes: XQU1 - Supply boot covers (the hard plastic cover you use when the roof is stowed away) XQV - Arch locking handle (these were liable to snap in half, the plastic ones in the boot) XQW - Front seat skirts (bits of plastic trim around the bottom of the seats) X11 - Software update (for the sensodrive) Ian Orange 03 Senso

It's a shame but ITV have removed the video of Les W being locked in and waggling seat backs, it used to be here http://www2.itv.com/westcountry/news/full_...WS+-+News+Story In terms of non leaky Pluriel, having seen the way the arches locate on Mavericks's car compared to my leaky one, the arches sit very tight against the windscreen so you can not see any of the rubber seal between arch and screen. So the answer to leaky or otherwise maybe in the location of the lug that the front arch clip locates into. a mm or so further forward means that a tighter and waterproof seal is made when the clip is done up as opposed to some of the seal being visible and leaving a gap for water to get into. This is what the old seals look like http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ian.barnett53...0web/seals.html and this is what the new seals look like http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ian.barnett53...b/newseals.html The 2 main visible differences are a longer flap on the rubber on the windscreen The locating lug is now plastic instead of metal in the roof arch seal. These new seals do NOT fix the leaking If you are not happy reject the car NOW. Take all the keys you have back to the dealer and write them a letter telling them you are rejecting the car as of the date you give the keys back, tell them in the letter why the car is not acceptable to you and that you want a full refund. Also tell them you are not prepared to let them "try" and fix things again as they have already failed to fix the problem. read the OFT info here http://www.oft.gov.uk/Consumer/Your+Rights...gs+go+wrong.htm Hope you get things sorted Ian Orange 03 Senso -

Main-beam Headlight Indicator On Dash

The engines seem to become more efficient after they have done 10,000 miles. I know not many Pluriel have reached this yet with the amount of time they spend sitting in workshops. Up to the 10,000 mile total I was able to just get 350 miles from a tank since 11,000 miles clocked up I have been getting over 350 miles from the same fill up mostly paddle shifiting (I only use auto when sitting in traffic). Used to be 50 miles per bar now closer to 60. Mine is a 1.6 petrol Ian Orange 03 Senso
