  1. I thought the USB connection was dedicated to map updates, and can't be used for music... Citroen brochure from 2013 says "not suitable for cars with navigation" in the USB box description
  2. From my experience of fitting an aftermarket radio into a C5, there is no switched feed in the old-fashioned way, so the unit will not switch off (or on) automatically with the ignition. Modern cars with CANBUS systems produce a pulse from the ignition, and you would need to get professional help to make this turn the radio on and off (a CANbuster is needed) Or just turn it on and off manually...
  3. First thing to try is a fluid change at a main dealer. It will cost around £200, but money well spent if it fixes the problem. Citroen have back pedalled from claiming these boxes are "sealed for life" to recommending fluid changes. It's essential to get the right fluid, so don't cut corners on this.
  4. Hello Anyone out ther know if it's possible to put a new connection in for the colour screen in a C5 Mk2? Reason for asking - I tried a Dension USB adaptor and it worked fine, except the screen won't work. (just shows the Citroen logo) The Dension quadlock connector doesn't connect the colour screen, which has thick wires running to the radio connector I can't figure out a way of connecting them to the Dension quadlock, and the wires look a bit specialised Thanks for any advice..
  5. I had a brand new Mk3 and the clutch was very heavy. I put it down to the pedal spring.
  6. Hmm Looks like the market is turning back to petrol (and not before time in my opinion) From Mr Evans in today's Mail on Sunday .. Diesel car values are about to "drop off a cliff" Not surprising, with ever more efficient, smooth petrol engines ,and petrol being cheaper too, plus diesels being hounded out of cities (London is just the start)
  7. Interesting to see that the mayors of both London and Paris have vowed to ban diesel cars completely in the next few years, and Islington council already impose a £95 parking surcharge for diesel cars using its car parks. France is the most "diesel-centric" country in Europe, so this is quite a surprise A lot of this is aimed at pre-euro6 engines, but that covers the vast majority of diesels currently on the road. Fortunately I'm not heavily invested in diesel, having bought an old C5 hdi recently for not much money. Definitely not a good idea to wade into nearly new cars with offending diesel engines just now Je suis Petrol!
  8. My sensors refused to work after I had autodab radio adaptor installed at a main dealer. The job involved putting a power patch lead in at the fusebox, and the sensors didn't come live again afterwards. A quick trip to the dealer fixed it. Although the config screen told me they were active, they weren't.
  9. Sounds familiar..The car's canbus system produces a pulse to tell the radio to switch on or off, and aftermarket units rely on a simple switched feed. I belive you can get something called a "canbuster" which will cure this , probably not a simple DIY job though
  10. Ok best check the status again if service light comes on. Odometer should flash up miles to next service when you start up. Spanner and service light are unrelated
  11. it means something is wrong . you can check warning status in the computer menu . Should have been accompanied by a warning light Service due is indicated by a spanner in the odometer
  12. only on exclusive mk3's I think - there would be an sos button beside the radio It's a sim-free, free service which calls the cavalry if you end up in a ditch (activated by any airbag) or you can push the button to call for help if you are taken ill. Chevron button will call citroen assist for breakdown , but that's an expensive subscription
  13. There are 2 connections (ports) on the lower part of the quadlock at the back of the radio, One is for the cd changer, as described above, and the other enables the connection of an auxiliary input lead, which you can run into your glovebox. 2 things to note sensitivity is not good on the aux - you will probably find yourself short of volume as with the changer, you will need a main dealer to activate the aux port
  14. Hi Does anyone know if it's possible to use the emergency system on the older C5's(Mk2 facelift hatchback)? My 2006 car has the radio /sat nav system with SOS button (and the chevron for breakdown), but a browse around the menu reveals it is "deactivated". I think the system only went live in the UK some years after the Mk 3 was launched, but should now be accessible to older cars with the emergency buttons?
  15. hard to say without knowing the history of the car. if it was built with the changer, it's hard to believe it would not have been activated. If the radio had been replaced at some time they may have neglected to activate the changer port on the replacement..
  16. No good. All the connections are different - phone and nav aerials are not fakra after all on my car - strange square pin things. Even the quadlock power connections are different! Thanks Citroen! A word of warning therefore - don't try and upgrade your RT3 to a newer model that looks identical - it isn't. Back on ebay we go...
  17. for connection - pull the head unit out (torx T10 screwdriver in the 2 holes)- cd changer is one of the lower connections in the quadlock connector . Also check theconnections at the changer itself. Activation has to be done at a main dealer.
  18. What happens when you press the source button a few times? Does cd changer appear on the screen? If not, it's probably not connected or activated - it draws power from the head unit.
  19. OK - the aux (in glovebox) and cd changer connect into the back of the quadlock area with 12 pin connectors. I'm guessing (hoping) the 8 pin and 6 pin are for some kind of other accessory I'l try connecting with quadlock and single aerial tomorrow and let you know how I got on. Hopefully it should all work, but with a beep that vin coding will cure.
  20. Thanks for that Paul I bought the ebay one and it arrived today. Looking at the back I have some concerns on its compatability There are 4 fakra connections - 2 seem to be for phone and nav, and should be OK with my car, albeit different colour codes. That leaves 2 (grey and white) for the radio aerial? Maybe this has dual tuners? I have a single ISO connection in the car, but that can be converted to dual fakra easy enough. Then there are 2 strange looking square connectors - an 8 pin and a 6 pin, in addition to the standard quadlock which I can connect to. Any idea what these are for? were they connected in your car? If so, this is not going to be so simple. Many thanks for your help here
  21. yes - i don't think anyone's covered a rear window here I just tried again . taking out fuse F5 and F6 to cover front and rear, and again it didn't fix it. I have to conclude the regulator's had it. Unfortunately rear ones seem to be about twice the price of fronts for some weird reason. We'll see what the Citroen garage comes up with...
  22. OK I tried this - no joy. I could only find one fuse to remove - "electric windows rear" - don't know what the second fuse mentioned in the pinned post refers to..
  23. ok window is attached again now, but the regulator is going berserk. Sometimes goes down when you hit the up button, but mainly goes up all the way and "bounces" back again. No obstructions, same story from door switch or drivers switch. All other windows fine. Tried a BSI reset twice, following the pinned notice on this site, no joy Looks like an expensive trip to the garage looms, unless there are any other ideas?
  24. Many thanks Paul. What a crazy price for a replacement! I didn't think they still made them - can't sell many at that price. I'd really appreciate it if yo could get me the model number at some stage. Thanks again
  25. Thanks - I was really after the model number, which is on the Magneti Marelli label on the top of the unit. Mine is RT3 X3 N10 Radios are advertised on ebay by reference to model number..
