  1. Thanks all. This was an error by the garage, so will wait until 1 year ( which will be next May - probably about 14/15k by then), and use my local main dealer, whom I've known for 8 years now. I would never buy from them, as they want list price for everything! The best bargains are to be had up North, Car is running fine with no problems. Service book is completed correctly in the initial delivery section, and there is no "first service" due before 20k/1 year regime cuts in.
  2. Had a missed call and a letter today from supplying dealer telling me my May 13 registered C5 2.0hdi is due a service Maint schedule says 1 year or 20k , Car has done 8k Are they trying it on? Just a bit concerned about warranty. They offered a collection and delivery service, which is interesting as they are 200+ miles from my home, to which they sent the letter.
  3. The brochure has a picture of an ipod connected to the "MP3 adaptor", so I'm pretty sure this is somehow converting the files into a readable MP3 format. Your main dealer really should know about this.
  4. This from the current C5 brochure. Probably an Apple thing.. MP3 ADAPTOREnjoy music from your own MP3 player andcontrol your song selection through the dashboardstereo thanks to this clever little MP3 adaptor. Not compatible with integrated satellite navigation systems.
  5. Thanks for the replies Paul you are quite right - there is mention of the pre-heaters on page 37, but nothing on page 26 (instrument layout) and nothing in the index, or section on starting.I do have the 2012 edition. Glow plug warning light is shown as amber on page 37, and all amber and red lights should come on with the ignition. I have looked and looked, and cannot see a light on the dash with the "pig's tail" icon I looked under the bonnet, but cannot get a good view of the engine block - too much stuff in the way The mystery continues..
  6. No mention of glow plugs in the handbook of my 13 plate hdi160, and there doesn't seem to be a relevant light on the dashboard. Do they not exist any more? Maybe on the higher power/compression engines?
  7. Does the centre piece come out on the Mk3 alloys? Looks horribly like it might be fixed, like the old Mk1 - meaning a special fitting is needed for balancing. I'm dreading replacing tyres - 245/40/19 - £100 budget tyres , but £250 for a brand..
  8. Anybody have experience of this? My Mk 3 has the words "snow motion" engraved on the chrome gear lever trim, but the car hasn't seen snow yet. I believe it's something to do with the traction control, but don't really know what to expect.
  9. If you have parking sensors, there will be a "p-off" (funny I know) button on the dash, under the radio
  10. yes, cut-outs with square caps are on all models, to simplify production. Doesn't mean they have washers fitted. Washers are generally fitted with Xenon equipped models, as this is a legal requirement.
  11. My mk3 came with plastic caps - no problem so far, although the car is only 6 months old. I keep them loose just in case.
  12. You only get a small monochrome screen, not the big colour one, so not as nice looking. The sat nav does take GPS coordinates, and you can "translate" post codes using a portable device (eg portable sat nav). Still a bit disappointing though. You can enter an address without post code easily. It also picks up live traffic, which is good, and telemetric emergency assist facility - you can call for help at the push of a button, and your location and details are picked up automatically. If you crash the car, the system dials out automatically, activated by an airbag going off. (not sure if this applies on older cars, the UK helpline was only set up recently)
  13. No auto wipers on the LX.. LX models have power-assisted steering, air conditioning, electric front windows, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, driver - passenger - side airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, remote central locking with deadlocks, transponder immobiliser, stereo radio/CD player with steering wheel mounted controls. SX models add climate control, rear sunblind, rain sensitive automatic wipers, electric rear windows, two cup holders and a securing loadspace n
  14. I wouldn't get hung up on sat nav - it doesn't take uk postcodes, so if you need to use it constantly this would be a drawback. You will find non-nav models cheaper and easier to find. Other than that, go for it! I have a C5 exclusive nav that's just a few months old now , and very pleased with it.
  15. I recently bought a brand new Mk 3 exclusive saloon and I'm very happy with it. The 2 litre engine is rated at 160ps, compared to 110 ps in the old mk1 cars, so a huge difference in power, and the new engine would be well suited to the estate (tourer) Citroen don't make petrol C5's now for the UK market, and were always a bit half-hearted on petrol, although I had 2 petrol C5's and liked them.I think you'll struggle to find a petrol tourer Good luck with your search
  16. Have you checked the sensors, to see if one is loose or dislocated? This would create a constant sound,if a sensor is hanging down and sensing the road
  17. My son's Puegeot 207 1.4 petrol, bought new 2 years ago, has always had a very high biting point. You think you'll never going! Agree on the reputation comment. PSA cars deserve much better. VW deserves much worse!
  18. Right, I have now had this car for 4 months/5,000 miles and here is my impression of it, for anyone considering moving fro a mk 2 to a mk3, as I did Firstly, I would say it's a better looking car, subjective I know, but just my opinion. Other positives Large colour screen is very clear and informativeSat nav works well, although the lack of post codes is a painLive traffic system is excellent, and can be tailored and used in auto or on-demand modeMP3 CD player has whole-disc random facility, not on old car, and scrolling track information too, although it's format-fussy- careful with albums containing a dot in the title - won't read them! Also generates clock errors if you burn a downloaded album straight to MP3 - need to burn in audio format first, then rip backAutodab digital radio installation works great, but only after aerial upgradeInternal "mood lights" illuminate door handles - a nice touchDriver's seat has 2 stage memoryBoth front seats have shoulder adjustment as well as lumbar - very comfy!Auto handbrake is goodTyre pressure information available on demandAuto wipers work better, and have an old fashioned "intermittent" optionNice touches like fixed-hub steering wheel and dials with the pointers on the outside of the circle, leaving the centre clear - very Citroen Now the not so good, cost cutting items No gas struts on the bonnet - just an old fashioned propNo xenons, although you do get cornering lights, and the halogens are not as dingey as I fearedInternal storage is poor throughout, with an inaccessible cup holder( although the (small) passenger glovebox is air conditioned)NS door mirror does not dip on reverse, and rear view mirror is auto dip only - can't switch it off. No blind spot section on OS door mirrorNo washer level warningNo synchro option on dual zone climate So Overall I am happy with the car - no problems, drives well and the diesel engine, once warm, is smooth and quiet, with no obvious turbo - just a smooth power delivery, akin to a conventional petrol unit. The large 19 inch wheels give it a frim ride, and I would like to downsize these, but I probably never will due to the cost! Hope this is of some interest
  19. Pretty sure you can use the cd changer slot for this, then select it using the SRC (source) stalk control Would nee to be activated by a Citroen dealer
  20. You won't see a track list using the phono/rca connectors, I'm afraid, but you should be able to activate and select it ok USB connector is needed for more sophisticated play and display options
  21. The traffic button will give you live traffic, which is a whole different thing from the old RDS/TA. You can get traffic information on demand or flashed silently on the screen, by selecting the "display" or "Don't display" option. You can also tailor it to a set radius from your car, to avoid irrelevant information, or link it to sat nav route guidance RDS/TA can be switched off within the radio menu
  22. Got it - I'm still learning myself! Menu button on steering wheel or set up button on the radio - changes temp and distance units on sat nav screen left scroll wheel on steering wheel ( ignition on, engine off) - push and scroll to change speed, distance, fuel units on digital speedo/odometer/trip computer also change lighting (daylights, corner lights, courtesy delay) I really must screw up the courage to read the handbook!
  23. If it has headlamp washers ( may have been an option) they would activate when you use the screen washers with headlights on. No separate switch and no separate reservoir for the rear screen or lights
  24. Might be worth pinning this?
  25. Changes ony affect the sat nav display (temp in F or C, height above sea level in ft or metres etc) Trip computer in the driver interface screen remains in miles/gallons etc regardless
