My car became quicker and looser over time but the fuel consumption was always rather good, in the high 50's. What is your driving style like, are you heavy with the pedals as on a small engine car the driving style makes a huge difference. I would investigate this further if I was you. Not sure having the lights on should make that much difference as the car is driving the alternator to a point all the time.

Heavy Electrics????? It is only the heated rear window? I tend to only find it on cars with small engines. You won't find it on a Mondeo or MR2.......
-
I would imagine that smaller parts mean they tend not to be as strong or take the strain. The engine is still under great pressure. I hope I'm wrong but how many cars over 10 years old do you see on the road? I still think they are great cars and at 6K are an absolute bargain in motoring terms. With Fiestas costing over 10K I can't see why the C1 is not in the best sellers list.
-
If you think the C1 will last more than 10 years tehn good luck to you. 3 Cylinder cards rarely go beyond this point and the cheap build will show by then. Still at 6K for 10 years of motoring it is an absolute bargain. Yellow didn't sell well so why still offer it, it would only push the price up of the whole range. I purchased a glove box finally and have to say it looks really neat and well worth getting. So if anyone else is pondering getting one it is well worth doing. Not sure whether to go for the chome gear knob and spolier now. Why would you need a Sunroof, let alone parking sensors!!!!!!!! I hope to change mine in a years time to the Aygo or 107 as I think the front end of the C1 is the worst. A great car to buy though, you wont regret it.

That is the reason I didn't get a red car. Having the metal showing inside means you really have to be even more careful what colour you pick. With regards to the reflections in the glass I don't have any so maybe it is something to do with your glass cleaner?

Out running a C3 isn't something to brag about, lol. The C1 is a fantastic value car but pure engine speed and grip is something even I can admit it has. I have been given a 2.0 6 Speed diesel Mondeo from work. I'm very impressed by the speed but would have the C1 anyday over the Ford. Firstly the C1 is a third of the price and it just feels a nicer place to be in, fresher. Secondly the build quality on the Ford is appaling in comparison. If they just advertised the C1 better they could make so many more and sell them all.

Have you checked that it isn't the seatbelt holder which is fixed to the seat in the centre of the car? I find mine squeaks but if I push the seatbelt holder forward it stops this. It use to drive me crazy as I really thought it was the seat as well. Worth checking out.

They are great fun aren't they :) I enjoy watching drivers of much faster cars failing to lose mine on country roads :o I remember when I had my MR2 and the amount of boys in their Fiestas etc who thought they were keeping up with and racing me. I never gave them the satisfaction. If a family saloon was really racing against our C1's we would soon be left in the dust. Lets make no bones about it, they are great cars, cheap to run but they are certainly not fast. Give faster cars the respect they deserve. Welcome new member. I'm sure you'll realise that the C1 is a great little car and I can't understand why they are not more popular.......

I have a silver one but haven't bothered to put a pic up as it looks like any you'll find in the dealers. I like how some people have done there cars up, they look good. I just can't bring myself to do it on a 1 litre engine car. PS - When ordering your new car you should always ask for the mats thrown in for free?
-
I thought with NOS you shouldn't up the BHP of an engine more than 25% as it can make the engine very unreliable and likely to blow the head gasket etc? Have you had any problems with this?

Help! Order Placed 4 Weeks Ago But Citroen Dealer Can't Get Me

How long ago was that Honda story as since 1995 all cars sold in the EU have to have an imobliser so they might have been having you on? -

I think it is more the fact that Toyota give a better customer service according to the surveys although I have had a good service so far from the Citroen dealer in Colchester. Is TCPA a joint venture by Toyota and the PSA group that own Citroen and Pugs? I think you'll find it is just run by Toyota with the french company supplying the diesel engines etc. I had an Alfa 157 as a works hire car once and I agree, they were lovely and the engine note is to die for. Just shame the electric windown switch came off in my hand. Italians don't make reliable cars, end of. As for Clarkson, Top Gear give the car of the year award to the Ford Mondeo, a car sold by thousands yet they didn't even review it over the series. All they seem to look at are very highly priced fast cars that no one can ever afford. I like seeing Ferraris go around a track but they don't show much else. Totally uninformative and Clarkson has lost touch with the real world. Traffic, runnings costs etc. -

Does Mr Clarkson really like them? I would be surprised as he wont touch anything without a 3 litre engine these days? I personally think they are great little cars and the main parts are reliable. I would imagine they would be big sellers in the current climate although I don't see too many on the roads. Maybe 300K a year for the world is not enough!!!!!!! Working in Citroen, how reliable do you find there other cars in comparison. The mechanic I spoke to said the C1 was a lot better. I find it amusing that the only part Citroen do on the cars, the lights and badges are the two most common failures!!!!!! With regards to rear the C1 is the best as the 107 lights look cheaper. The Aygo has the best front though with the C1 the worst in my opinion. I got my C1 as it was still the cheapest of the three by a long way. The reason Pug and Citroen are still seperate is brand loyalty is big in France. Also if you buy a bad C1 Citroen and you wont have another one you then go for a Pug so they haven't lost your custom. Did you know that Bush, Matsui, Goodmans and Alba were all the same company for the same reason. I take it Toyota and Pug are having the lions share of the production line then....... -
The ride is hard and bumpy enough without lowering the car. I had this done on an MR2 of mine and it made it very uncomfortable. Be warned.......
-
If this was the case then why would the dealer explain and give me a certificate to get the third year warrenty? I would check with Citroen UK before buying from a broker. Just the car is more likely to go wrong in the third year than any other. Thankfully they are built by Toyota so not to much goes wrong.
-
If you don't buy your C1 from a main dealer I believe you only get two years warrenty instead of the three? When purchasing my car I got a certifcate from my dealer which I have to use to prove it should get the full three year warrenty. Might be worth checking that out if your buying from a broker as I could be wrong.

I'm on my own mostly as well and it is a real pain to walk up to the door and have to unlock it, especially in the dark, when I've been so use to remote central locking. Apart from that they are great cars and I've had no problems. I did 247 miles and filled up for £18.50 at 109.9p a litre of petrol the other day, very impressive. Enjoy.......

The C1 without Metalic Paint looks terrible. How can you say £350 is a rip off........ Having the exterior paint showing inside means it is even more important, much better than the improvment from the glovebox lid. I almost got put off buying a C1 as the one in the showroom was a plain colour and made the interior even more tacky.
-
I'm afraid Citroen C1's are very expensive to service and repair. It is how they get some of that money back from selling them so cheap. So be warned the people who rant there cars. My second service is going to cost £220, that is madness....... If you are keeping the car a long time then I would do the work myself but if you plan to see it in 3 years then get it done through the insurance. Not nice when it happens to a new car :-(
-
Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my C1 possibly soon as I miss the Central Locking and Electric windows. I currently have a Cool version, basically a Vibe with Air Con which cost me £6,500 with Metalic paint. How much are people paying for the Rythem Models with metalic paint? I'm not fussed about the Air Con as it just isn't needed often enough to bother with.
-
I must be doing well then as I'm still on 5mm after 12.5K and I thought that was bad. Is it the make of tyres as these energy efficent tyres do seem noisy etc.
-
Could you not wait for it to be ready bearing in mind you are travelling 400 miles to collect it? Do you not have dealers closer to you in Scotland?
-
Shame the government has done a U Turn on letting the C1 be congestion charge free. The same could easily now happen with Road Tax although at £35 it is still a bonus :-)
-
I wouldn't get to excited about the C1. As great for the money it is, at the end of the day it is still a budget car. On the plus side I've had mine a year now and not had anything wrong with it and it is so cheap to run. Happy motoring.......
