  1. Thats some exhaust system, you will be scare-ing all the sheep up there on the islands, if you fit it  Mind you some people go to lot of effort to find out about accessories for our city bugs..... It was a hot day today and I had my sunroof fully open and a silver C1 came up behind me on the motorway and followed me all the way to the supermarket carpark, and parked alongside. The woman asked for details of my aftermarket sunroof, as she said she had not seen a C1 with one, and I gave her details of make, price, and where to get it fitted
  2. Oh, its one of those go faster strippy 107's  Nice car by the way
  3. Hi there Dankenning and welcome to the site. I have owned my C1 VIbe for over 18 months now and the gearbox is a wonderfully smooth Toyota gearbox, just typically japanese in operation with a nice light clutch. There is no knocks, clicks or unusual noises from this gearbox. As for reverse, well just come to a stop and straight into reverse. OK, I agree, ocassionally it might not go in straight away, so go in to neutral, repress the cluch pedal in and then select reverse and it does go in. (This is the standard way to do it for 1st or reverse when starting any manual car, if it does not select straight away). On a rare few times I have had a quiet click (and feel) from the cluch pedal operation, but I assume its the auto-slack takeup in operation. Honestly, I think you have let your dealer off lightly, and if you feel you need conformation on how bad your gearbox is, go and test drive another C1 at a different dealer. Then I would get back onto your dealer and demand a new gearbox, as the one you have is NOT up to standard. if they do not accept this, then write to Citroen HQ's aftersales consumer dept. Cheers Colin
  4. There would be no problem fitting speakers in the back parcel shelf, most come with a cutout template, and remember to fit plugin connectors in the wiring loom at the back, so when you remove the shelf occasionally, you can unplug the speakers. According to the handbook, the headunit has fader controls, so it does balence front/back speakers, hence it will take a four speaker system, though you do need to connect the wiring into the back of the unit. Cabling can be hidden under the carpet along one edge of the car.
  5. Only major common fault on City bugs at present is door seals leaking. Its a bit hit or miss due to production, some cars get these drip problems, others never do. The origional production tequnique we believe was to hit them on with a mallet (i kid you not), thus squashing them on, and the seal was not making a powerfull seal, causing drips getting in on heavy rainfall. The 08 models onwards no longer use mallets, and do seem to look a bit thicker by at least 2 to 3mm, so maybe are now more water tight. I gave up myself after trying to get my door seal leaks sorted by dealer twice, and now just rely on silicon grease smeared on the rubber seal for 100% security against leaks. PS.. Also you might encounter the tailgate outside hinges rattle / squeak, some lubricant on the hinges sort that or use WD40. I spray mine every six months. (these hinges should have been on the inside) Another possible rattle is from the rear seat belt fixing, there is a writup on here of a solution I used by inserting a rubber washer, that works. Other than that the car has good japanese reliability, ie aygo engine and gearbox, and is a great wee runner.
  6. Non-mettalic Red is ... KJH rouge scarlett Touch up paint code is ...9993.45 First thing I bought for my C1 ;) All plastic parts will require plastic primer first (get at halfords'ect) before painting with the red, or the paint will just flake off.

  8. Remember to ask for a quote based on the more modern type aftermarket motors with gearbox chain drives, ie, COLIBRI or equivelent, because they are identical in smoothness as the factory fitted electrical windows. I just dug out my paperwork..the 2 door kit is called... 'COLIBRI plus' with Kit 3 (you get the 3 switches for the doors and the wiring loom) also you need to get the C1 spindle attachments version. Here is a sketch showing the locations of equipment...... I am not taking the door card off now  ).... http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/greatchi/B%20team/door.jpg
  9. Like a lot of us we buy the C1 Vibe as an economy model, which is almost a £800 cheaper than than the Rythm model, thats why it has the electric windows and central locking, we don't. I thought I could live without these modern day functions, but it is difficult after having them for year on previous cars, and after I had left the passenger door unlocked for the upteenth time in carparks, I decided i was going to fit the lot. If you go down the route of getting someone to fit these items the ballpark price (2 door car) will likely be £150 minimum for the central locking and around £400 upwards for the electric windows, so it is wizer just to buy the Rythm model in the first place. Not really an answer if you already have a Vibe. I went DIY and bought all the kits on Ebay. CENTRAL LOCKING (a days work) 2 door central locking kit with 2 remote keyfobs was £20 (quite a straight forward job, requiring removal of door cards, can be done by a competant DIY person) The holes for the door wiring are already there (rubber bungs fitted) Door card removal... http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...&hl=central ELECTRIC WINDOWS (must be suitable for the C1 winder spindle, it took me a week all in, but the car was still drivable between periods of working on it)) http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/greatchi/B%20team/PICT0028.jpg Electric window COLIBRI kit (2 windows) at £110 and as a must... it must have the modern geardriven motors which are just like the factory fit motors, ie, motors not directly sitting on the spindle of the winder, but sit instead inside the door with a long drive link. These use far less current than direct spindle drive motors as they are through a reduction gearbox with chain drive, so your windows run smoother. (the kit has all the switches, fuses, cable harness, motors, etc) The electric drives are controled by a driver/passenger switch on drivers door, and a passenger switch on the passengers door. NOTE: This job is very complex, with not much room in the door due to the unusual shaped door card, so it is difficult to hid everything, Hence this is not an easy job for the DIY'er, and must be proficient and confident before attempting. CONCLUSION: DIY costs was £130 + sundries, like brackets, cable, tiewraps. ect another £30, hence the total was around £160. To hide spindal holes I installed 50mm dia tweeters, cost £20. Hope that helps you decide.
  10. In this country of excessive taxataion, it is only a matter of time till any alternative fuel is heavily taxed, so alternatives like LPG does not interest me at all. I am happy enough with the 58 MPG on a 1000 cc petrol engine, although I am not keen on paying the goverment 58% of that in tax, which makes the cost per barrel irrevelent  Deisel went the same way, as it gives better MPG, they made it dearer than petrol. It is only a matter of time till they do the same with electric cars, and put some excessive tax on it. I am sorry to be so negative, but recently it seems the UK goverment are determined to remove private transportation, unless you are a millionare.
  11. I see this old thread has come up again, so I have put some new pictures of my sunroof back up on the first message. You will see everything is wet outside the car, as unfortunately today is heavy rain and lightning  I have been very pleased with this sunroof and its great in the summer as it can fully open to the third notch and gets lots of air in. You can also take the glass out, but I have never done that as I would not like to store it inside the car on the move, in case it got damaged.
  12. Never had that problem, but once adjusted, you do not need to do it again, if you are the only driver. As you say it will be the cables, usually they break or come undone in most makes of car, rather than stretch. Since you are under warrenty, let them sort it out, and in the meantime you can push the mirror itself using your fingers, into the position you want. You might need a bit of tape to hold position, so it does not drop a bit during travel.
  13. CDR's do work but can skip if you go over a bump, whereas origional CD's do not. This happens on most cars, not just C1's.
  14. Hi 'I C A C1' and welcome to the site. You have picked an easy car to drive, as many learner car companies use the city bugs (C1, Aygo and 107) I bet You will enjoy your car
  15. With AC units in any car, there is one crucial rule... USE IT OR LOSE IT Many people get caught out by not using the AC in winter, as something will pack in through non-use, whether the gasses or moving parts. You must use for at least a few minutes every week. In summer, well it will be used. In winter, it is usefull for demisting the windscreen, when on full recirc. Remember to take it off full recirc when finished.
  16. I agree with the expensive Citroen servicing, but... they have you by the warrenty upkeep, and I suppose being a budget car where profit margin is low, they have to claw back the money though servicing  Some other makes of new car, offer you the 3 year servicing either for nothing or a token sum, usually £100, but the cars are dearer. so its swings and roundabouts. You choose.
  17. Wheel spaces can also increase wear on your wheel bearings. This was a common problem on Smart Fortwos for those who wanted wider spacing (the fortwo was my last car) How about wider wheels instead?
  18. My main reason for buying the C1 was.... I wanted a small budget 4 seater 2 door new car, with Japanese reliablity, that looked good, easy gear change, light clutch, comfortable to drive both in town and motorway, and very easy to drive. The whole City bug range (C1, 107, Aygo) filled that answer and all use the japanese 1000cc engine and gearbox, and at the time the C1 was cheapest by at least £500, so I bought one. I am now one and half years into ownership, with no technical problems encountered, although I have had door seal leaks (happens on quite a number of these cars), but have solved it. You get on average 58 MPG, Insurance costs are low, road tax is £35. I am still very pleased with the car indeed. I myself do not worry about the lack of underseal, as I usually change my car for a new one every 3 years (when the warrany runs out). And the main question... would I buy another ? Yes, I would consider buying any one of the city bugs again, dependant which is the cheapest at the time. My C1.... http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/greatchi/PICT0024.jpg
  19. No idea M8, as the head unit is such an unusual shape, so it is only good for that car, hence, I dont think anyone has discussed the topic. Your best bet is to go to your dealer in person and ask the service guy. They will likely want to see your car first, so your not just trying to pinch the headunit. Modern days i am afraid ;)

    Bikes On C1

Welcome to the forum ;) No, the back glass tailgate would be to frail to fit anything to. I have the Agyo brochure in front of me right now and the accessories on page 21 have an aluminium roof rack that will take an optional bike holder, or ski holder, or surfboard holder. Four fixings for roof rack, fitted to the groove on each side of the roof. They only show one bike in the picture, so there may be a loading limit (not sure), you will have to ask your dealer. No prices given, you will have to phone, and I assume Citroen will do the same bike rack, as its the same car. Usually, the same accessories are different prices for the C1, Aygo and 107, so its worth shopping around.
  21. Well I for one am glad the petrol engine/gearbox is japanese :P In fact, I consider the only Citroen part of the C1 is the badging :D
  22. You get used to the metal finish of the doors, mind you in darker coloured cars you do not notice it much, but in my red it stands out quite a bit ;) The door cards come off easy, you will find my writeup on the subject in this C1 forum. link...... http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4449 You could then either finish in leather, or paint it to a suttle colour, or finish in 'carbon fibre look' sheeting. There is also a white plastic paint finish you spray on (door cards removed) that looks exactly like the trim on the side walls in the back of the car, but I decided not to do that as I find white very distracting, so I will just live with my red interior doors. PS.. If you were thinking of flocking the cars interior, you will need matching fluffy dice :D
  23. I can't see an entire new model unless, Citroen C1, Toyota aygo, and Pueg 107 all agree to do it. I woild not worry about minor facelifts. All the city bugs are selling well, i suppose due to economy (58 MPG) and its reasonable costs. That price you are offered is very good, i paid just £100 less for a 2 door model, so you are doing well for a 4 door. Citroen always seem to beat the other bugs in price, yet technically they are all the same. If you go for the car, remember to order the RHS glove compartment cover at £30, it takes half an hour to fit, and really finishes the dash off (It should have been with the car and not an extra, miserable bunch). Better still, try to get it in your finalised deal :D
  24. I suppose it is like any wheel trim, they tend to fall off sometimes  Thats why I secure mine with two silver plastic tiewraps per trim ;) So how about a pic of your car with the new shiny alloys (and I assume locknuts).
  25. I assume you are wanting a water temperature gauge and sensor. A Water sensor is easy to strap onto a coolant water pipe in the engine bay and run your electrical cable in through the bulkhead to a gauge. Check out Ebay for cheap kits.... http://search.ebay.co.uk/temperature-gauge...sofocusZunknown Just my own thoughts on the subject... I have never owned a car without this gauge, but you do get used to not having it. Mind you it is straight forward to install a kit, like those above. NOTE: I have fitted an outside air temperature gauge for safety, knowing when there is an ice alert is handy (there are pictures of installation)... http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...st=0#entry24089
