I have owned my C1 for one and a half years now, and I always get around 58 MPG, which is very similar to your own car.

Count me out, I am only a poster :P

Hi and welcome to the forum  So where's your local dealer up there ? Anyway, to answer a few of your questions. Lack of Passenger side door switch for interior light..... http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4474 Boot light (battery operated)..... http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4408

I assume that covers the one and a half inches at the top of the rear windscreen thats not normally swept, thus causing us all to duck to see better  I have a feeling I will be visiting halfords for a W22 this weekend ;)

If you want the car just to look like it has alloys, you can buy the 'alloy look' wheel trims of the Aygo. Should be a far cheaper option.

These cable links are always very long, where do you get short ones, like 6 inches, so you dont end up with loads of cabe showing?

Does your radio/CD unit not come with an aux jack output ? My Vibe model (a year and a half old) comes with it. It is a small hole on the bottom LHS of the units facia. You can connect MP3 player, or IPOD direct to this through a cable. Though it is a bit unsightly.

Bench testing means that the engine is tested only for a short time on a bench (test bed), to check it works OK, before it is inserted into the car. I would say it is still advisable to do a 1000 mile carefull running-in of the car engines components (ie, normal revs and speed), if you want it to run well for the rest of its working life. It only takes 2 to 4 weeks to do this, and its well worth it.

I sorted my back ones as follows.... http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/greatchi/B%20team/washer.jpg Look at them close and you will see built in deliberate slackness between the metal bracket that holds the belt and the actual anchorage bolt, so it can swivel in the bolt. This allows the belt to angle itself to suit when the wearer has it on. Thats where it rattles. Now unbolt the anchorage bolt, and fit a washer as my photo. I could not get a manufacturered rubber washer to fit, so I cut some out from a piece of 4mm thick rubber sheeting using scissors. Inside diameter is slightly bigger than the bolt thickness, and outside diameter bigger than the metal collar just behind the bolt head. When you retighten up the bolt, the rubber takes up the slackness, but will still allow the metal bracket to swivel, though slightly stiffer. Its an easy job, takes about 15 minutes per anchorage point, and no more rattle

Was in my Citroen dealership yesterday, and was looking at a new C1 in the showroom, all nice and shiny. I took a look at the door seals on a four door C1, these seals are on the body of the car, that stop the door leaking, you know what I mean. The seals are definately a bit thicker than mine (a one and a half year old model) I would say they are at least 2 or 3 mm thicker (sticking out) I just wonder if this gives better compression of the rubber, because that is the problem. I asked the salesman if these were new type seals, as the existing ones are awfull. He said he was not aware of a change, and there is no recall. This reminded me of someone on the site saying the seals seemed thicker on the lattest models due to how they now install them in the factory (pushed on instead of hammered on, I think  ). I wonder if they have been modifiying these seals on the quiet for the 08 models, to sort out the problem that a lot of previous owners like me had, ie, drips coming in  Next time you are in the dealer take a look at an 08 model, and see what you think.

I took my C1 in to Citroen yesterday, and they said a big fat NO to replacement of silencer... They will not accept an intermittant fault, like I have. By the time I get to the dealer (over 20 miles away), the baffle sound has gone, as gas pressure has locked it in place again, for a while. They will not accept a tape recording of the baffle sound . They have taken note of my problem and if the baffle noise becomes continious within the rest of the warrenty (one and a half years), they will replace the exhaust. Thats there rule, no ways round it, any intermittant fault is always a hopless case. The Joys of motoring

I think you really like your new car, how about a picture of your lovely car (remember to blank your numberplate). PS... This forum has the most unusual habit of giving you the prevous writers quote every time, so you are better to delete it first, then write your message, otherwise you get a load of unwanted quotes.

Did anyone mention to you about an engine run-in period for the first 1000 miles, by trying to keep the revs down and keep to a reasonable speed :D Anyway, glad to see you are enjoying your new C1

I only put silicon grease on the seals now, to gaurentee I do not get the carpets wet in torrential wet weather. Even though the dealer has 'so called' sorted them, I just cannot trust the poor design of the seals, where there is a lack of compression. As I stated above many cars now come with inhearent faults, and this is the city bugs. It is now a waste of time trying to get it fixed, as it needs a total redesign of the seal to get the compression right. But overall I am still very happy with the car, as long as it remains dry inside :D Anyway good luck, on trying to get your money back.

I am sorry to say but I tend to agree with the other members here, that you have left it too late to demand a replacement, usually you have up to a year. Going by your tale of woe, it seems the dealer has tried ther best. I know the C1 is not perfect, which car is? I have had rain leakage trouble with the door seal dripping in the C1, been in twice for repair, but I still get drips when it is torrential rain. This is due to an inherant fault of lack of compression of the door seals and that there is only one seal at the door, so I sorted it by smearing silicon grease on the seals, and no longer get any drips. I can live with this DIY solution. Some people get this drip problem in their car, others dont. So, If you cannot suffer the car any longer, maybe its time to cut your losses, sell the C1 now, and hope you get a better car. But there again, why not keep the devil you know (the C1 you have)... Going by modern day cars there is far more tendency to produce inherant faults due to factory built cost savings on materials and design (like our door seals). So the chances are you may end up with something that has more time consuming and costly faults, than a city bug :D

No, this is a tinny rattle at a specific speed, in my case it starts at 40 MPH and above, and has just happened in the last few weeks. Its entirely different from the normal exhaust noise, you would notice the difference if you got this. By the way, My mileage is 10,000 miles over the one and a half years, so its not been driven that hard.
-
Silencer covered by warenty?, I will have to look into that. i hope your right ! Time to phone my dealer :)
-
A bit dissapointed with my exhaust. I have now got a loose baffle in the backbox which is rattling away, when 40 MPH is reached. Yes, its definately coming from inside the box. I assume the exhaust is not covered by the warrany for this type of thing, and I did not expect to have to buy a new exhaust untill after the 3rd year when it would likely blow due to rust, and I am only halfway through the normal life of the exhaust. I had a fault like this on a previous car many years ago and the only solution then was to blast the car at speed for a short time and hope the exhaust gasses would wedge the loose baffle in. I tried this last week and it has stayed quiet till now when it started rattling again. I have done the same trick today and its quiet once more, but for how long ?, it is a bit of a sickener, getting this rather rare fault due to bad internal welding. Other problem is that the whole exhaust seems to be one piece from rear to front, so it looks a rather expensive solution to put a new exhaust on already, just for a loose baffle. Is the catalitic convertor in the exhaust backbox, that would be even more costly ? Oh, I hate when this happens, ie, something not covered by warrenty !

By the sound of that installation description, I would rather do without the mudflaps :D
-
Make sure you paint the holes you drilled, so it dont rust
-
I would give it another chance, and top up the expansion bottle to the line on the bottles side, its about halfway up the bottle., then keep an eye on it, to see if it drops down. If it does drop down again, then your leaks back. These cars do not loose much coolant at all, under normal running conditions. Remember to put both water and anti-freeze mix in when topping up.
-
I don't think you will find many of us on the site, who has fitted the mudflaps. We just live without. Can you scan the paperwork and we will take a look at it, or a photo of a mudflap and the fixings?

107/aygo/c1 Meet - Meadow Hall Sheffield - 22nd June

Glad you are enjoying your Aygo, as much as we are with our C1's :) I am glad the city bugs all come off the same production line, to Toyota Japanese standards, with japanese engines and gearbox, so they all should be quite reliable (well most of them). So whats your website link, as the more info we have on the city bug, the better. PS.. Heres my C1 with the AYGO side strips. Thats the advantage of the city bugs, we can fit each others accessories, if we want to :D http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/greatchi/PICT0024.jpg -

I am really quite amazed to see a meet for the city bug, well done :( I mean, its usually nishe type cars that go in for that sort of stuff, like Streetka's, the little Smart cars, and MR2 convertables, rather than your mass produced everyday runarounds, like, ermm, city bugs ! I suppose there must be quite a number of city bugs owners that go in for customisation, so that they are pretty much individual. There is a model in the 107 range that has twin sporty strips that run over the bonnet and roof, and roof spoilers are available for all the city bugs. its mostly cosmetic stuff. Mind you, due to the amount of city bugs on the go, I myself like to have a one off version, and have a sunroof fitted, and Aygo side protection strips to my C1. Now I know in a car park which car is mine, rather than try to unlock someone elses
