  1. Paul & Steve will probably be back on the forum after the weekend and they may be able to help you with your questions. Meanwhile have a look through the ICE section for possible help. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/forum/80-ice-in-car-entertainment-discussion/
  2. On the factory fitted system, if one sensor goes down, the system stops working and shows a fault warning on the central display. That was the position with my recently departed Exclusive C5. By connecting the car to a Lexia, the faulty sensor can be diagnosed. Replacement of that faulty sensor restores the system. The factory fit system can be turned on and off at the dashboard. With the after-market kits I don't know whether or not a faulty sensor causes the system to misbehave but when I fitted them to my new C5, I only fitted two sensors (one on each corner) because I also have a flanged towball fitted which usually is picked up by the inboard sensors. It's worth noting that one replacement Citroen sensor costs £60-70, whereas a full after-market kit of four sensors, sounder and control box can be had for £16 including P&P. To find out whether parking sensors were fitted to your car, join http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp You can join as a member of this forum. Once on the site, enter your VIN and click on Characteristics. Every thing about your car will be listed on the following 5 or 6 pages. Alternately, tell us your VIN and we'll look it up for you.
  3. Oh dear! Reading this post makes my remarks on your other post a bit obsolete. Are they only working when reverse gear is selected? Your parking kit sounds as though they are after-market sensors. Where does the beeping sound come from? Can you see the control box and the sounder?
  4. Cant help you in the sounds department, but if you haven't got them rear parking sensors are a very easy addition. So far I've had two kits from http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251244495581?var=550220752869&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 for fitting to some of my family fleet. All that's required is to drill the bumper, pass the sensor wires through a grommet into the boot area, then pick up the power supply from the reverse light wiring.
  5. In addition to oil and filter change, I always renew the fuel filter, the air filter and the pollen filter at 20000. If you don't have any record of when these items were changed, I would do them now. Perhaps on mileage, it's a bit early for a cambelt change, but if it hasn't already been done, it's over the ten year recommendation.
  6. Car speedometers generally show a slightly higher figure if you start to compare your speed with a satnav. On my previous C5 an indicated 60mph on the satnav showed 61 on the speedo. My present C5 shows 62 when I'm doing 60 by Tomtom. And if the speedo reads higher, it's likely the mileage will be slightly different too.
  7. Unless your car carries a load, the rear brakes do very little work. Consequently if the pistons don't often move, they seize up through lack of movement. It is possible to have your old callipers overhauled.
  8. You didn't mention anything about the speed you were doing Nora. My C5 makes a world of difference between an average of 60ish and 70+.
  9. Although they use the same engine, C8's are well known for breaking their cambelts. All due to rain water making its way down into the belt area.
  10. O dear! That's bad news. The belt should be tight so it must have snapped. Usually it doesn't damage piston heads; instead it breaks some of the rockers and sometimes the camshaft. You should be able to see with the valve cover off. Edit. I've just gone back to the start of your post and noticed yours is the 2.2 engine. In which case your problem is a bit more serious and it isn't just a simple look under the valve cover. Hopefully Steve will be along with more details.
  11. Tell us what the trouble is that you're having. Yours is not the first C5X7 to show signs of fluid leak from the steering rack. A few weeks ago another member found this firm useful in supplying an exchange rack:- http://www.acspowersteering.co.uk I've also moved your topic to the technical section and deleted your other similar post.
  12. Congratulations. Hope it works well for you.
  13. I don't see the alternator on your list. Personally I wouldn't worry about removing the towbar wiring. New stuff isn't all that expensive - unless it's dedicated.
  14. If you are keeping that lot, I would add the xenon headlamp washer system. The plastic spray bars cost a fortune if you need to buy them from a dealer.
  15. No, not at all. If the question is there only once, it keeps the replies all in the same location.
  16. Have you tried a BSI reset? If not - try it. It's done by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. But disconnect in the correct manner. Follow this method:- Open the bonnet and prop it open. Open the driver's window. Switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key from the car. Wait 3 minutes before touching the battery to give the various electronics time to shutdown and save settings. Remove the cover over the battery - if there is one.. Remove the bolt holding the battery clip Remove the battery negative terminal. Remove the battery positive terminal. Remove the battery from the car. When reconnecting ignition key out of the car Reconnect the battery and wait a few minutes. Don't open doors. Through the open window insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute Turn the key to the first position and wait a minute Turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute before starting the engine Take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch Reset the clock PS I've deleted your other post.
  17. That battery voltage seems high for a battery that has rested for a few weeks. 12.6 is more the norm. Check the cables from the battery to the starter motor and also the earth strap from the battery to the body.
  18. Check the voltage of the battery first. It sounds flat.
  19. If you post the model and age of your car, you may find a willing buyer for your towbar.
  20. I don't know whether or not your radio needs a code however, with PSA cars at least, there's a procedure to follow when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Through the open window insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute Turn the key to the first position and wait a minute Turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute before starting the engine Take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch Reset the clock
  21. Jamied has already been supplied with the correct wire colours but he said in post 3 that his setup had been wired with 9 wires of different colours. His best bet is to trace his Smart7 relay and rewire correctly from there.
  22. Do you have a relay fitted in the car for the trailer lights? The 7 core cable usually starts from the relay.
  23. I also have just bought a 2010 VTR+ and am still trying to get to grips with all the gubbins which were not on my previous C5. As I was driving home on Monday the satnav screen went blank. I reprogrammed it but then it treated my destination as a stop-over. I just assumed that the satnav had lost it's signal.
  24. A new 12N socket can be bought on ebay quite cheaply. Yours - from your description has the cut-out for the fog lights. When the trailer is attached and the fog lights are switched on, the cut out turns them off on the car's rear lights. Here's one from ebay:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ring-12N-7-Pin-Plastic-Socket-With-Fog-Cut-Out-NEW-A0012-12v-Trailer-Lights-/251263159073
  25. Hello & welcome to the forum. The uploading of pictures isn't working at the moment. If you want to get a picture on the forum then it's best to upload it to Photobucket or Flickr then copy and paste the link.
