  1. My car has been reporting an erg electrical failure for over 3 years, it has not affected the running and has the same effect as a fully blanked off egr so I have not rushed to fix it. Even the main dealer advise me to ignore it.
  2. My car has the DPF removed and sailed through the MOT in May. It would appear they only look to see if the DPF box is still there as some garages remove it and fit a pipe. So if you bash out the innards they still see the box and there are no further checks. That might change in the future when they do comparisons of software but for now it seems to be a none issue.
  3. do you have air con? if so the windscreen needs to be sealed at the bottom as well as the top and sides, many installers fail to do this as they are trained it is not required. The water could have entered with rain and given no rain the front carpets have dried out leaving the pool in the rear. Of course if you dont have Aircon you can ignore this :)
  4. Way to soon for a DPF problem, the low gear high revs probably caused a regeneration so I wouldnt worry about it, just check that you have the right filler cap which contains a magnet. If so carry on and see if there is a repeat of the warning.
  5. Dont use the Chiswick main dealer, they have proved useless on the issues I have taken to them.
  6. The faulty fuse box is a micro crack which occasionally opens up and causes the issues. Citroen are aware of it and did mine under the warranty. Seems to me thay should have done a recall but typical Citroen, wait until the customer complains.
  7. My c5 2.0 hdi exclusive with an auto box gives me 42mpg on high speed motorway runs, this is well below the manufacturers figures but that is because the manufacturer doesn't use real world driving. Thier figures are achieved usinng a set criteria in a laboratory and are intended to give a comaprision from new car to new car. Nowhere do they actually claim you will get those figures. You only need to look at the Mitsubishi outlander 4x4 which is claiming 148 to the gallon, but it is a hybrid and they do not tell you what it costs to plug it in and charge it. Yes you do plug it in unlike the toyotas.
  8. I changed from priveledge to Aviva and got a 30% reduction. Dont know how good they are in a claim because I havent made any in the last 10 years
  9. If you go on to ebay they sell a turbo repair cartridge, your mechanic can keep all the external parts and just replace the internals. It is a lot cheaper than a new turbo and gives "as new" results
  10. They only work every 10th application of the windscreen washers, have you given it enough tries
  11. Paypal wont put it in your bank, they retain it until you buy something else then deduct it from that. If you want the money in your bank you have to log into paypal and make a payment to the banks account
  12. I wouldnt rate your chances of getting anything done under warranty but the likelihood is that they are in the clear coat so a good orbital polisher with a medium poorbouys paste should get them out without to much effort. You can check the process out on Youtube, just keep the surface wet to avoid burning the paint.
  13. Mine only mists up when the air setting is on recirculation. Check it is set to draw the air from ouside of the car.
  14. Clear the code, put it on a motorway and thrash it. Catalytic converters need to get hot to work and it would appear yours has a coating of diesel on it. If you get it hot enough it may just burn it off.
  15. I found the car stopped vibrating when I used better quality fuel (not supermarket). These gearboxes learn from the user so you may find given time that it stops the behaviour but then again by putting your foot down so hard you might be teaching the box that you want full power, hence full revs. As you say, adapt your driving style and the issue will go away.
  16. Check the fuel filter as this could be fuel starvation under demand.
  17. It probably wasnt done in the service so change your fuel filter
  18. You can install a freeware program called VMware, it creates a false partition so needs a lot of space, you then install XP on that false partition (need an xp disk). To install the Lexia open the xp desktop and install it there, as the program installs it restarts the machine but doesnt go into the XP partition, however it seems quite happy and the Lexia program can be run from whatever operating system you have without going to XP. I have only done this on 32 bit systems so if you have a 64 bit I doubt it will work.
  19. If you break any of the floor fastenings you can replace them with electrical tie wraps, much esier to fit!
  20. On the C5 the mirrors fold which is a clear indication it is locked
  21. Paul H, sorry missed the question, I was getting it from Asda but have found Tesco fuel is better and Texaco better still but as I do 550 miles per week and have to pay for the stuff myself a few pennies per litre all adds up
  22. Lexia is about £80 for a foriegn setup (not Citroen) it needs a laptop with XP
  23. Paul is absolutely right, heating with a hair drier is definately the right way to do it, I have found nail varnish remover will take the glue off
  24. The plug is on the common rail (fuel system). On the c3 it is at the back of the engine near the bulk head on the near side of the car. Could see it but changing the plug was a swine. As I understand it you are not increasing the boost just the amount of fuel being delivered so the tendancy may be to use higher revs more often which could be detrimental to the turbo but it all depends on how you drive the car. My engine is chipped and the power comes in low in the rev band so I tend not to go over 3000 rpm which means the turbo is not unduly stressed. Having said that mine is the 2.0 so not known for turbo issues
  25. I have a 16" steel spare for a mk3 touring with a brand new tyre on it. I live in Lancashire if that is any good. Due to the cost of postage it is probably only worthwhile if collected.
