Hi, I have recently started to have issues starting the C5. It cranks over fine, but it no longer springs into life, it is more of a stumble. I used to be able to let go of the key the moment it fired, and it would be there, running smoothly. Now, if I let go of the key as soon as it fires, more often than not it does not keep running. I am finding I have to keep the starter motor engaged for an additional few seconds, after which it runs fine. Any ideas where to start looking? I was wondering if it might be low fuel pressure, I can here the pump running when I key on, but have recently found that somebody has recently had the cover off from under the seat, wondering if this may be related to the current issue. Thanks. Mikey.

Panic over. I managed to obtain the correct procedure, and upon checking the front height, it was over 30mm higher than it should be. You can adjust the suspension both mechanically, and using the Lexia. I chose mechanically, as it is only possible to adjust by 10mm using Lexia. If anyone needs the procedure for front and rear adjustments on a MK1, let me know.

Hi, Does anybody know the correct method to measure the vehicle height and wheel radius to enable to calculation of the value to be entered into the Lexia tool? The front of my C5 is riding high, and is also a little firm. I have checked the height sensor linkage, all is fine and clean under there. It seems like the front is simply riding too high. It still adjusts both the front and the rear when people enter / exit the car, so I believe this is all it is. Thanks.

My experience did not go that far, I gave up once I found that the BSI cruise option was missing. Have you checked to see if it is there?
-
You also need to enable it in the BSI module. Some vehicles do not have the option (like mine :D ), and only show the option in the injection module. Hope that helps.

It calculates based on previous and current driving.. When I got my latest C5 it was offering me about 350 on a tank of petrol. After a few miles it realised my driving style was different, and the range was increasing as I drove. Now when I fill up, it suggests around 600 miles on a tank. If you drives some economical journeys, it will catch up and offer you a respectable range on the computer. Just seeing Coastline's response above, I could not resist.. I commute 100 miles a day and used to have a 110. I once got 908 miles on a tank (was trying for 1000), but that was driving at 50mph on the motorways and dual carriageways. Normal driving (60mph ish) I used to get around 700, but it was almost all motorway and dual carriageway. Now driving a petrol 2.0L and still managing 41mpg (over 500 miles per tank), so pretty happy :) Hope that helps.

Recomended North East Garages For C5 Additive Reset

Hi, Not tried it as yet, but the option is there. Not certain, but think you would need the confidential card with the codes on to perform the programming. Hope that helps.

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Being an automatic, it would be difficult to tell you what engine speeds the change points are, as it will vary depending on throttle position and road incline / decline etc. The HDI 160 has a higher max torque RPM than say the 110 engine, I believe it is about 2000 RPM, so you will only just be getting onto the power when the transmission shifts up a gear. This is indicative of economy driving. The transmission will have around 10 to 12 different shift patterns in the software, and it will choose the one that matches your driving style the best. It you are driving very gently, i.e. not very much throttle, the transmission will select it's economy pattern, effectively shifting up the gears early, and down the gears late. I have the petrol auto, and also find it is quite sluggish in this mode, but it also allows me to get around 40mpg . It sounds like you need to adjust your driving style a little if you feel it is under performing. If you accelerate with a little more throttle, you should find the transmission will hang onto the gears a little longer, and also downshift a little earlier too, as it will select a different logic to match your desire for slightly harder acceleration etc. You can also use sports mode, which basically lifts the upshift / downshift points by around 1000 RPM, or as Coastline says, you could use the tiptronic, although that does kind of defeat the idea of having an auto. Hope that helps.

Does the second one need to be a remote? I have two keys, but only one is remote..

I had the same issue and so gave up. I found the option in the engine ECU, but it was not present in the BSI, so I figured it needed a software upgrade perhaps. I have done without cruise all this time, so will not pursue that any further.

Depends what your running and the spec of the laptop.. If you are on Windows 7, depending on the version, you may be able to install XP mode from Microsoft. I have done this, it basically runs a virtual machine on your desktop in XP, and so is compatible with the Lexia software. XP Mode is free from Microsoft. Hope that helps.

I did not receive any log ins, just load up the software following the instructions and away you go.

Having spent the day playing with the Lexia 3, I can happily confirm I am more than chuffed with it :) It appears to do everything a dealer can do, or at least everything I would want to do. I was able to communicate with all the modules on my 2004 C5, have already reset the auto transmission oil counter, and monitored various engine and ignition parameters in the hunt for the illusive intermittent misfire. As far as I am concerned, it was worth every penny, and the ramblings I read regarding this tool not working well with the C5 seem to be unfounded. It really is a case of spending some time learning your way around the software. Hope that helps.

Hi, Well, I got the Lexia 3 off ebay. It comes with both the Peugeot and Citroen software. You need to run it on XP, it does not like Windows 7. I installed the XP mode virtual machine (free from Microsoft), and once I got the USB working it was fine.. I have already had to use it on the 207, and it worked faultlessly. I was able to find the cause of the engine light, and had a little play. I could log real time data and all sorts, so happy it is working well on the 207. The C5 however, is a different story. It connects fine, and talks correctly to most of the modules, but each time I use it, I get different options coming up in the software, it will not talk to the engine module correctly, and seems to lack all live data logging. I am still finding my way around the software, but have since read that these tools do not work well on the C5's. I will be having another play this week, the verdict is still out for me as to how useful the Lexia will be on the C5. That said, it does read and clear faults without issue, but I was hoping for a lot more. I will post again towards the end of the week and let you know if I have managed to get further with the C5.

Thanks. I have been sitting on the fence as there have been reports of these units having issues with the C5, but I am going to dive in and order one today

Thanks for the info.

Hi, I have been looking to get a diagnostic tool for my C5, and also my son's Peugeot 207. On ebay, there are a variety of diagnostic tools available, including various versions of the dealer kit, Lexia 3. Now, I realise these are not the genuine article, but I would like to do certain tasks myself to avoid dealer visits. Apart from reading DTC's when the need arises, I would like to be able to reset the oil counter on the auto transmission, and enable cruise now I have all the hardware fitted. Does anyone have any experience of the Lexia units on ebay? If so, do you think I will be able to perform these tasks? Are there better tools around that may do these things? My budget is around £200 max. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks seefive, my symptoms are exactly the same. Fine on cold start, fine when up to temperature, but during the warm up I can feel it kicking. I will try the Wynns and an oil change.
-
The oil is easy to change, but as stated, great care should be taken to get the correct level at the correct temperature. The AL4 box is supposed to have its level checked when the oil is between 58 and 68c. For this, I purchased a little temperature probe from Maplins. Make sure the car is level, the drain plug has two pieces, undo the larger outer one to drain. It will come out with the level tube. When ready to fill, refit the drain plug and tighten. Then, after removing any dirt from around the square drive filler on the top, remove it. You will need to add about 3 litres of the AL4, available in 2L bottles from Citroen for around £20. Refit the top, run the engine. Put your foot on the brakes and rev the engine to about 1500 RPM in each gear for about 15 seconds to ensure the converter is nice and full. You are now ready to check the level. Put the transmission back in park and leave the engine idling. Now remove the smaller centre nut from the drain plug. You should get an initial flow or gush of oil, which will reduce to a drip after a minute or so. At this point, the level is correct, and you can refit the drain plug. If when you remove the inner drain plug to check the level, the oil only drips or nothing comes out, you should refit the level plug, stop the engine and add another 0.5 litre. You then need to repeat the above process before rechecking the level. All the above said and done.. I had a similar issue to you on a C5 with only 31k miles on the clock. It was hanging onto the gears too much when cold, and shifting harshly. I decided to change the oil, and after one change, it has significantly improved the gearshifts. The old oil was pretty black, but did not seem to smell much different to the new oil. As previously mentioned, you need to flush auto boxes twice, or even three times as each time you empty it, you are only getting about half of the oil out. I shall change mine again next week. Hope this helps, and would be interested in the outcome of your issues Billy.

Anyone?

Hello, I purchased the above a few days ago, and am noticing a slight, irregular yet frequent misfire. It predominantly occurs within a few minutes of a cold start. I changed the spark plugs yesterday and perhaps it has improved very slightly. I can not notice the misfire when the engine is idling, nor can I detect it if I raise the revs. It only seems to be detectable when the car is moving under very light throttle loads, and when in 3rd or 4th gear, when the torque convertor is locked. It is a lovely car, 2004 model with just 30,000 miles covered, I really would like to get to the bottom of this. Does anyone have any ideas where to look next? I had it scanned for codes, there are none stored.
