  1. Recon rack turned up couple of hours to fit then a quick test drive and all is well no more leaks. 2 places let me down sending incorrect racks. These guys sorted me out with the correct part next day delivery http://www.acspowersteering.co.uk Cant comment on the longevity of the rack but its the right one and appears to be of good quality so they get a thumbs up from me.
  2. New rack arrived wrong one. They ordered the earlier model even after double checking its the 08 to current one i need. Try again :)
  3. Wouldnt be surprised if that is whats happened to it. No play in the shaft and still worked well. Since its such a faff getting the rack out a recon rack at 200 seems well worth the money knowing it wont leak.
  4. Started with everything in the straight ahead position. Car has the turning light option so i dont want one light on all the time + nothing worse than a wonky steering wheel. Tracking will be sorted at work if i can find the guages if not its into the local car garage. In summary if you think those pipes are leaking check the rack input seal as that leaks and runs down to the pipes. And £1050 for a rack from citroen is nuts.
  5. Ive been busy got in and had a proper clean up and chucked some orings in still leaking. As id cleaned it all up i could see that appeared to be leaking from the steering input seal. Removed the large rubber cover in the foot well and could clearly see a nice leaky input seal. Boooooo 4 hours of crawling around dropping the subframe out it comes. image by Parkesiemtb, on Flickr A recon rack is on its way tomorrow so should hopefully only take a few hours to get it all back together.
  6. Ive been struck by the same leak :( tried some o rings from a multi pack no good still leaking. Citroen parts desk couldnt find a part number still.
  7. Had this with my 08 tourer fix was to fit a new bosch silver battery and clean up the terminals and earth points with a smear of vaseline to stop them corroding again.
  8. My 58 mk3 2.0hdi has service interval of 20k gets a oil change every 10k just because i can.
  9. Leaky injectors. Exhaust blockage, any oil get dumped into it when old engine shat itsself?restricted air-intake seen people head scratching where did that rag i left by the air intake go :)
  10. Give everything a good shake. Could be any of the things youve mentioned. Also check the condition of the engine bottom pulley some have rubber damper built into the centre that fails and causes intermittent rattles and knocks.
  11. Any luck with this?
  12. Have a nosey at the ride hight sensor. The linkage on mine snapped and dropped the rear end but could easily have sent it to full height.
  13. You'd be able to hear the fan going for sure. Does the fan not work at any speed? Usual suspects would be fuse resistor/speed control pack or motor.
  14. Metal on mine had coroded and come apart. Always on stands or over a inspection pit, dont fancy getting squished.
  15. 1st reall problem ive had with the mk3 exclusive, driving to work in the morning and the ride suddenly got really bumpy pulled over and the back end was sat on its bump stops. A quick head scratch and a look underneath revealed a broken link between roll bar and ride hight sensor. A 90degree rubber electrical terminal cover and a zip tie and away i go in comfort. I wonder how long it will be till i get round to getting a new linkage :)
  16. If you had an exclusive you could stick the wheels on and drop the suspension when parked to show of then raise and drive away in a normal car. On your vtr. Model id imagine the ride would be horrendous not to mention the steering circle.
  17. The tourers should be noisier than the saloon but i really find my tourer very refined and only any real road noise on the worst of roads. That's after i binned the bridgestones it had when i bought it.
  18. Possible option would be to get some mondeo wheels. Plentiful 2nd hand on ebay.
  19. So many things this can be post up what they find.
  20. No bluetooth some of this age c5 have a headu it that takes a sim card. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8365/8523505773_f78e374267_c.jpg image by Parkesiemtb, on Flickr
  21. Centres pop put of the 18" on the mk3.
  22. Had brigestone potenzas on my c5 tourer when i got it switched to conti sport contact 3 and road noise and comfort were greatly improved. This is on 18s.
  23. Get the exclusive or i think the vtr models come with the hydractive suspension on the automatic models.
  24. Hight can be adjusted when stationary and will revert to normal if you forget and drive above 5mph. Also has a level button in the boot which is handy for hooking up trailers.
  25. I run a mk3 exclusive tourer and absolutely love it quiet comfy and quick. Its on 85k and the only dramas ive had since buying it are a bent alloy whoops technically my fault but the 18inch wheels are expensive never mind the tyres. Lost a number plate light but that was a naughty monkey in longleat. Popped a cv boot off but that again was me driving a tad enthusiastically around a multi story :) The rear isnt quite as big as the older cars but certainly isnt small. Ohh mine has the 2.0 140 diesel motor and thats plenty quick enough the newer ones with 160 shift a bit quicker still.
