You can post on here if you dont mind, im sure it maybe useful to other at some stage. If they come back and say its got lower emmisions, I might ring them and get them to send me it in writing.

Yep, mines an RFN to, so Im a 138 (I knew that anyway!!!) Id still like to find out about the emmisions though, if it is the same as the 143, it should be in group E rather than F and therefore, I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Yep, mines a 138BHP 2.0i. Im sure for 55 plate and after, it was 143BHP, the engine being Euro 4 compliant. The 138's are only Euro 3 compliant. However, im sure its more then possible that some 138's were sold after the 55 plate came in. What we really need are some chassis numbers from the two different engined cars. Maybe there is a number/letter string which denotes engine size/power.
  4. Ive just purchased some Falken FK452's online at http://www.falkentyres.co.uk/index.asp They are selling them for £64.31 each!!! They are Y rated so more then high enough for the C4. Delivery is free, and it says its next day delivery, although having only just ordered them (at 16:55), I maybe pushing it a bit!!!
  5. My tailgate rubber seal has got a large hole in it. It seems as if it is rotting, when you look at it, the rubber has that 'crazed' look and feels dry. Im going ring and find out how much it is, just wondering if I could get it done under warrenty.
  6. Go back to the garage and ask them if you can look at their CCTV footage to try and determine if you did use the correct or incorrect pump. As you say, you have owned diesel cars for years, why should you pick up a petrol nozzle??? Have you tried re-filling it with diesel again, it might work better the more diesel you can get back into it.
  7. I concur with the above, Hidsons Rainham, very good. Nearly bought a new C4 from there the other day. Sales staff seem good to deal with to. Nick the guys name was, seemed like a decent chap.
  8. When I pull away, the car makes a grindy noise. It occurs most if you pull out of a space and turn right, so the wheels are turning right as the front of the car lifts under acceleration. Once its done it once, its fine again until the car is left and the suspension settles. KFK has looked at it and has done all of the fixes that he can do, and yet it still does it. It didnt do it when I got the car. Curiously, it seems to be getting worse now. It occasionally does it if I have to stop in the middle of the road to turn right, when I eventually do turn, the noise occurs. Also, when it does this, the steering feels very heavy (remember I'm turning the wheels right). Its very bizarre.
  9. Does your car also 'graunch' when pulling away??? Mine steering is affected by road imperfections, a bump will make the steering really tug. I know that sometimes the dealers can rebuilt the front suspension turret, replacing the roller bearing at the top etc.

The K series is a good engine, it was never ever meant to be a 1.8. It was designed as a 1.4. The problem with it in the F is it needs to be kept cool and very efficiently at that. To do this, MG mounted the radiators upfront (maximum exposure to fresh, cool air) and linked the engine and rads with long pipes which run under the length of the car. These corrode and that is what causes the HGF. Id like to point out the HG doesn't just go for no reason, its failure is caused by another reason, often inlet manifold gasket failure, waterpump leaks etc. For its size, the K punches well above its weight. It is very light, hence why it is/was the darling of the British sports car makers. My old car was a Rover 214, 1.4 litre engine, 103BHP, only now are we starting to see more power from comparable sized engines (and these often have turbo's and superchargers attached). The K series can be traced back as far as the mid 80's. In its day, its design was revolutionary. It took Honda until the late 90's to design a similar engine. The engines need to be worked hard, but thats another thing which makes them a hoot in a sports car, plus, for a 4 pot it sounds very good. My one word of advice if you go for an F... get the most expensive and latest you can afford. At the end of the day, F's are getting on now and they are a British Sportscar and they car on the British Sportscar rep for needing lots of TLC. If you want a good reliable car, get an MX5, if you want one thats nearly as good to drive and has a proper soul, get the F. If you want a Mk1 MX5 beater, get a MGTF!!! If you go down the MG route, check this site out: www.mg-rover.org (if you sign up, make sure you say I sent you!!!) A great bunch of people who know all there is to know about all things F and TF. Hope this post helps you.
  11. I dont see why heavy braking should cause a disc to warp. As logn as you release the pads at the end, it should be fine. I for one dont sit on my brakes. My juddering just seemed to happen all of a sudden, over a few weeks. I put it down the the brakes just being worn, but I saw the removed items and they had loads left on them.
  12. Ive got an 05 plate VTR+ and I too have had to have the front discs replaced due to juddering. Mine were not done under warrenty either, although the dealer managed to get the cost down by somehow discounting the parts, final price £205. Citroen wouldnt even entertain a warrenty claim. Brakes had 27000 miles on them and juddered when braking from 70MPH. I kind of understand it on my car, after 27000 miles, why should the brakes be covered. How many miles you got???
  13. If you look here, Ive put some (very bad) pictures up. Clicky Click Click
  14. Yeah the hole is aleady there, there is a blank in it, just feel along the bottom of the door card. They are about £3 each, part number 6362.N6. Thanks to KFK for that info.
  15. I have put my spoiler on today and also fitted two lights, one in each of the door cards. The lights are the standard items that come on the VTS/Exclusive and light up the footwells, they come on with the courtesy light. Thankfully all the wiring is already in place, so they are just 'plug n play'. Also, a bit of a bonus, I have managed to refit the passenger door card really well and it hardly rattles now!!! I would take some pictures, but the car is a bit dirty and I haven't got any good gear left to clean it. Will be ordering some Megs stuff this week though, so hopefully will give it a proper good clean next weekend if it turns up promptly.
  16. Diesel??? If its petrol, at that age it'll be a 142BHP and should get cheaper tax.
  17. Well, im gutted really. Ive got an 05 model year car and it is the 2.0l 138BHP engine, which is in group F (£190)!!! The 55's and after got the 142BHP engine, with reduced emmissions, so they get more power and pay less tax!!! What is the difference between these engines??? Surely its just a different map???
  18. Your gearbox will free up, give it a few more miles, say 10,000 or so, let it wear and bed in properly. I had a 1.4 C4 as a courtesy car and the difference between the clutches in that and mine were amazing. The 1.4's clutch was a lot, lot lighter and smoother. I guess the bigger engines have a heavier, meatier clutch. Might also be made heavier to make it seem more sporty.
  19. Its either a new switch pack for that quadrant, or a completely new hub. Id look into this first, as it could be very expensive. The light unit just pulls out of the roof, its held in place by 2 metal clips.
  20. Id love one, purely to be individual. The problem is £30,000 for a Citroen is a lot of money. Its no doubt a fine car, but people see 'Citroen' and '£30,000' and think 'Hmmm, No'!!! I saw a mint DS in France a little while ago and it was fantastic. Citroen have made some great cars. Two questions about the DS, why put the gear stick (it was an Auto I think) on top of the steering cowling and the other, why put the radio on the passenger side??? I also liked the CX (the C6 reminds me greatly of this car for some reason) and the SM was a beast. Did any of you guys ever work on any of these older Citroens??? They are not cars you see in the UK very often.
  21. I bought my car from DF Maidstone. The sales staff were very pleasant (suppose they would be really) the the whole outfit looked very good, so I can imagine that they're service dept. is good to.
  22. I have had my fair share of problems with a local Citroen dealer. I now take my car abolut 20 miles down the road and let Hidsons in Rainham, Kent deal with it. This is the dealership where KFK works. I have never had one problem when visiting this dealership. They are very polite, very professional, from the receptionist in the service department, to kevin himself, who has done his best to try and sort out the problems with my car. At this point in time, the car is still not what I would call perfect, but I am happy that everything that can reasonably be expected has been done to the car. The car always comes back cleaned inside and out. I would have no problems with recommending Hidsons Rainham. Hidsons Gravesend on the other hand is another matter. My car went to them with several problems several times. Many times it came back with nothing done, other times it had the odd update carried out. When you compare the service from this dealer to the Rainham dealership, we are talking different league entirely. The impression I get from Gravesend is, they dont really care. No one seems interested in what you've got to say, at the end of the day the owner knows the car best. All I'm going to say is dont paint everyone with the same brush.
  23. Wozza, got your PM, did you get my reply???
  24. I have noticed if you park on a slope with the passenmger side lower then the drivers side, this warning flashes up to. Also, my car seems to log the warning and will keep showing it every time I start up until I check the dip stick. As the dipstick tube got some sort of sensor in it/on it???
  25. Plastic plastic??? :D
