  1. i hope your not indicating i'm being picky :D .....i only do pedantic :)
  2. Surely its not a problem if its a characteristic of its normal operation? The sensor needs to be imersed in oil to a specific level to give a correct reading on the display. The way it operates is by providing a resistance reading .....the resistance is affected by the level of the oil........hence if you park 2 wheels on the pavement or face down hill it will cause the oil to flow away from the sensor and cause it to show low oil level. Additionally if you stall your car, on re starting it will tell you the level is low because you've spread it round the engine. In the event you over fill the engine with oil this too can give a reading on the display that indicates the oil is low.....so if your dipstick is above the maximum mark it doesnt mean you need to add more!!!!!!!
  3. A spare bulb kit will not avoid a fine if you are travelling with faulty lights, but replacing a bulb on the spot may avoid the cost and inconvenience of a garage call out. On some cars it is inadvisable or indeed impossible for anyone other than a qualified technician to change a headlamp bulb or lamp unit eg high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, so carrying spare bulbs is not an option. However, carry spare bulbs for any lights which can be easily and/or safely changed.
  4. check your brake light bulbs.......one of the filamaents is hanging down and resting on the side light bulb filamament causing a short circuit......alternatively someone has wedged a single filament bulb into a twin filament holder.
  5. The electronic oil display is a guide for those people that never get out and check there oil. Based on the reaction time of most people to do things it could be several weeks before a customer actually checks there oil so it comes on between the two marks........after all would be a bit silly if it came on when it got below the minimum mark. Another fault? or Driver error?
  6. Petrol Xsara is serviced every 12,500 miles or annually......which ever is soonest. Your vehicle will be due for the 3rd year service, which is the same as the 37,500 mile service as listed in your service book. Rough cost for this will be around £350.....depends a lot on the area you live.
  7. yes thats normal .......because you have climate control
  8. There is no oil level screw on this box. Only way to do it is drain oil and then refill throught the breather hole in the top. All gearboxes take 1.8Ltrs
  9. If you overfill the oil it will give the same message on the display as if its under filled.
  10. 3 year warranty doesnt cover the cost of regassing an airconditioning system where a leak isnt present, should also be borne in mind that its a recommendation that the airconditioning be regassed at 2 years old as an additional service requirement. Should the vehicle have an electronic defect or a leak whereby a part requires replacement its highly likely it will be covered. Best thing is to book in to have it inspected, if its over 2 years old and hasnt been regassed i suggest you ask what the current price is so you dont get a suprise later.
  11. thought this was how good is your dealer..........can we get back on topic?
  12. not completely different but may have different size valves and different cam timing or valve lift duration
  13. electrics are different, there multiplexed like all later citroens, yes the engine will be different, not to gain more power but to achieve emmisions regulation.
  14. I'll take it as told off
  15. as long as ya dont expect a kiss aswell  ......i'd rather clean ya motor :(
  16. might let ya shake hands if ya want
  17.
  18. From my point of view i dont turn up for work to get agravation every day and i would say that anyone here would say the same. The job is easier if every one is happy.....customers included. With regard to the equipment fitted to vehicles. As the customer you have by far the greater knowledge of the equipment thats fitted or going to be fitted on your new vehicle. Personally, i look out the window i see a C4, if your lucky I count the doors and wouldnt know from where i'm sitting whether it was petrol or diesel...........in fact i dont care to much for what equipment it should or shouldnt have untill i check to see what computers are fitted and check the database to see what it left the factory with. With regard to "it says so in the brochure", it usually has a disclaimer explaining 'subject to change without notification'......so whilst i check them i also dont take them as gospel when checking equipment. Quite simply the most common reason for equipment not working is the customer not realising it isnt fitted on their vehicle, and isnt part of the specification. The dealership doesnt write the update, we have no knowledge what some of these updates do. There are times when an update will enable one function and delete another......we cant roll back the update to the previous version, all we can do is wait for another update to resolve it, we cant tell you if an update is available without plugging your car into the diagnostic equipment and checking with the main server, if your software doesnt have the facility to enable a function its probably because it isnt fitted. We do inform the manufacturer of faults with the product.....How do you think you get fixes & recalls for these problems.....they wouldnt know unless we told them. Personally i would rather spend my time doing things other than warranty work. Warranty repairs can be time consuming and a cost to the dealer.......contrary to popular belief we dont get paid for all of it. In the majority of instances it would be usefull if the customer could show a little interest and provide us with information when asked rather than just dumping keys on the desk and expecting it fixed when they come back. Whatever you may think about dealers, you do get a choice, you can shop round..............dont assume its just dealers that are difficult to deal with!
  19. Point taken......Yawn..........maybe you should start a thread here that says rant......i'll make a point not to check it! My comment was tongue in cheek........maybe you need to get out more.
  20. Because for whatever reason its not working!.......sorry for stating the bleeding obvious.
  21. Must admit, the problem faced by C5 II owners when they get a radio fault is pretty ridiculous. Warranty dictate we have to return the set to the UK agent and they send one by return.......If that was to happen we'd have satisfied customers. Can i assume it either wont turn on or off? Anyhow good dealerships.......i think i work for one thats not bad......lets see how long before it gets listed (i wont advertise).
  22. You obviously don't know how much they are each!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And when he does he'll be back to his tyre fitter with the bill i think. Dont forget, when you buy the new valve you will have to get it programmed to the car or it will still come up with the warning......main dealer job i'm afraid.
  23. Have you got parking sensors front and rear? Some peeps have only got rear sensors......still badged a VTS, they wont have visual warning.
  24. They took to long so heres some info to read through Configuring AUX2 for MP3
  25. If it wont play MP3 from cd you have a set that can be configured to accept an input from an mp3 player. You need to ask the dealer to activate the aux socket and will nee to buy a lead...........i'm sure if we wait long enough someoen will add to this and tell you what they did.
