  1. I dont think i mentioned anything about mutilating a door! I said we smashed the lock off from inside the door........which is what you will have to do in the event the method you are using now fails in the future.
  2. Glad to hear :o
  3. do you have citroen sat nav?
  4. If yours dont lock, try pressing the locking button on the dash board for 10 seconds.....that should reinstate it. Regarding the recall.....not sure which one your on about, but if you want to know if your car requires a recall take your chassis number to your local citroen dealer and they will tell you if it has missed any.
  5. You smash it off from inside the door once the trims off......nothing exciting!
  6. I assume you have bled the filter housing? You dont say how old the bx is or whether its the lucas filter with the punger in the filter head, or the later type where the plastic top of the filter is held on with 4 allen screws. if its the one with the plastic top and 4 screws it isnt unussual for the lid to be distorted an draw in air.......of course the other thing to ask is whether the seal is good on the filter.
  7. Remove the bumper fixings located in the wheelarch . Remove the bottom fixings (2) and (3) (on each side) . Remove the bumper top fixings . Disengage the bumper horizontally towards the rear . http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8682/bumperrc5.jpg
  8. Good evening eddie :P
  9. The "overspeed alert" function has two controls : A control for activating and deactivating the overspeed alert A control for memorising the overspeed threshold You can scroll down the functions on the multifunction screen by pressing the button on the end of the wiper switch . The overspeed alert is managed via the trip computer menu . 2 screens are available for this function : Activation/deactivation of the overspeed alert function Memorisation of the speed that should not be exceeded Activation and deactivation are possible as soon as the appropriate menu appears on the multifunction screen Short press Change from the overspeed alert activation/deactivation screen to the speed memorisation screen Long press Deactivates the overspeed alert If you need more assistance on this send me a PM with an email address so i can send info
  10. Checking and topping up of hydraulic fluid is done with the vehicle in the low position . If the level is lower than minimum level, 1 litre of hydraulic fluid should be added . The minimum level of hydraulic fluid is identical for 3 and 3+ hydractive suspension . I would advise the same as another recent post here.......obtain a large syringe and suck the contents from the tank. To go any further than that will involve bleeding parts of the system and applying a pressure in the reservoir to assist you. I might add that the level should be with the seam of the tank
  11. Flat spot: sitting waiting for a gap in the traffic at a roundabout.......the gaps coming.....i'm in gear.......i feel the clutch biting point.......i increase revs.......the gap arrives......i start to move away. And thats exactly what happens......it starts to move away, my foots going down but its not increasing the engine speed.......then just as i'm wishing i'd picked a bigger gap......were off like a bat outa hell (or as quick as 16 hdi)......its not a comfortable feeling and totally unpredictable. If you keep it rolling and avoid stopping at junctions you never have a problem, but if you stop i recon it does it 50% of the time. still when i get to work on monday they can look at it......will let you know what they find.
  12. Sorry was on holiday.......some of you might be glad to know i had to live with a C4 for a week :P ......Interesting. suppose when i get back to work we can book it in for the Hard ride, squeaking suspension, and major flatspot when pulling away ;) Still the economy was good, drove in a sprited fasion round the cotswolds using the Garmin as my co driver!......still got 54 to the gallon. Might add that whilst on my travels i stopped to take a picture of yet another sheep, when i noticed someone in the phone box down the road. As i drew closer i realised there was a C4 with door open next to them. Being the sort of person i am, i stopped and asked if everything was ok. In a very blunt manner i was grunted at and basically told to mind my own business.......so i did......muttering under my breath that i hoped his battery went flat! Otherwise a happy holiday :P

    Help!

presumably your trying to wire up the electrical connector for your aux socket....and you cant get the wire out of this? Yes it does come out, no it isnt easy. Your citroen dealer may have a tool to help you remove them......we do! I think someone has mentioned the connectors are the same as used to make connections on a pc motherboard......have you got any spare wires in your pc?.......before you break the connector.......alternatively a trip to maplins might help you.....or a breakers yard and cut a bit of a loom of a suitable type fitting.
  14. there are only 2 ways to change the mileage to next service. 1 - its reset by pressing the button 2 - its reset if the main BSI computor has an update carried out on it. Something to be considered if you do low mileage: assuming the vehicle did 6,000 miles a year @ 2 years old the vehicle will have 8,000 miles left........and then it says service due! If you divide the mileage (20,000) by 24 months the computer is expecting you to do aproximately 833 miles per month.......where you dont achieve this the computor makes an adjustment......maybe yours has done this
  15. If the fluid reservoir is low the vehicle must be leaking externally (unless a sphere has failed). If any of the components were leaking internally and ussing there return pipes the resrvoir would collect the fluid.......and the level wouldnt drop. If anything, with the suspension dropping overnight and returning to the reservoir it would have a higher level in the morning than when you turned the vehicle off the night before. Should the rear suspension leak it isnt uncommon for the rear suspension cross member to have a damp patch on it......the breather pipe fro the rear suspension bellows is fed into it......have a look there.
  16. Orange - hopefully it had 'LDS' written on the bottle. Level for the C5 is checked with the vehicle in normal ride height and the level is roughly the same as the seam that runs round the tank.......they do look empty. The last one we had in overheated the suspension pump and melted the wiring to it aswell.......sounds expensive.
  17. Because customers cant be relyed upon to read instuctions and the voltage contained in the ballast resistor will do you some damage!
  18. Warranty doesnt extend to brake pads and discs - wear and tear. Have the discs worn out......in which case did they measure them and confirm they are below minimum thickness. Or did the discs run metal to metal and score the surface (noisy). Or are they corroded?

    Tappets

It could be the injectors rather than the tappets you are hearing when cold. The injectors pulse more often when cold to get more fuel in for cold start.
  20. Does your remote key have an led that illuminates when you press the button....and does it illuminate?
  21. Scuse me, mind if i get a word in. Try not to take comments personally......and remember its not a contest to have the last word
  22. What makes a good driver?.........could it be respect: - Respect, in relation to the ability of the vehicle - Respect, for the maintenance of the vehicle - Respect, in relation to road conditions - Respect, in relation to other road users - Respect, in relation to your own ability
  23. So going to my reply..........which i assume you havent checked........does the fan work when its cold and you turn the airconditioning on?
  24. Your garage is right in so far as to fix a problem it would be good if they could experience the problems that its causing the driver. My advice would be that motability are contacted, preferably by letter, and a copy sent to the repairing dealer (probably the supplier). State the problems you have experienced and those that still exist with any additional information that may help them recreate the fault. For example, if the fault only exists after driving 50 miles the garage needs to know they wont get it by driving round the block. Motability will liaise with the dealership and assist in getting the vehicle to your satisfaction. Assuming the vehicle hasnt been converted, motability will do there best to assist with organising replacement transport whilst this work is carried out.
  25. If it only happens when the air conditioning is on check that the cooling fans are rotating. The cooling fan must come on when the airconditioning is activated regardless of the temperature of the engine.....if it doesnt you need to find out why it isnt coming on because it is unlikely to work when the engine gets hot either. A good place to start is the underbonnet fuse box to make sure all is ok, and then take a look at the two resistors fitted to the left of the cooling fan (Facing the vehicle from the front)........obviously nothing is going to work if the fan is jammed with objects or has sustained damage that prevents it from turning. Before you stick you fingers in the fan turn the ignition off.......it will hurt if it starts spinning!
