  1. Early C3 Petrol's didn't have temperature gauges.
  2. According to Citroen it's a "Bumper Rubber Boot". It can be replaced but must be painted in car colour unless you can find one already painted.
  3. Don't worry too much about "beautification" panels going missing. Not really there for any good reason, just to make it look neat. Only time they can become a problem not being there is if the car was still in warranty, would be an excuse for Citroen not to pay up!
  4. In most of my experience, the electronic hand brake will simply disable if it detects any fault what so ever until you have the vehicle checked by a technician. If the switch goes wrong, it would usually just stop working. I'm pretty sure the C5 has a manual override lever underneath the center console on the interior.
  5. Welcome to the forum, hopefully we can help you!
  6. Automatic gearboxes are complicated buggers, so would advise taking it straight to Citroen.
  7. Welcome to the forum and thanks very much for posting!
  8. What engine is in the vehicle? What size and fuel type? Sounds like a petrol as you mention coil packs but never heard of HPI! What is the CC? I take it the car ran well before being stored for one year? Wouldn't harm to replace the intake air temperature sensor and clear the faults - may be confusing the ECU. What I would like to do if I could would hook the car up to Citroen's Diagbox and check the parameters when turning over! Will show information regarding fuel pressure, spark, etc ... Have you check the spark plugs? Will the starter motor turn the engine every time to turn the key? Plenty of fuel in the tank? Clogged air filter? Sounds likely as it turns better when throttle is open.
  9. Possible faulty door lock.
  10. Being a brand new car, if you have any concerns take it straight back to the dealership.
  11. Any time any ECU is replaced, it requires configuration by Citroen.
  12. Welcome to the forum. My first move would be to carry out a Diagnostic session using either Citroen's own Diagbox or a OBD2 Reader. This would highlight any faults the car may have picked (up with regards to air flow meter, throttle body, egr, ...). Also, this will highlight any faults with the coolant temp sensor. If this part is defective, it may be telling the computer that the engine is already warm, thus under fueling the vehicle when cold causing a rough idle. It could also point towards a fault with the dozer valve, AKA idle air control valve. What kind of smoke are we getting? Big black smoke?
  13. To bleed a ABS block, you must have Citroen Diagnostic Equipment, 2 people and a huge quantity of brake fluid ready!
  14. Generally, whining noises are usually caused by rushing air. If it isn't part of the door seals, give the entire induction system a going over.
  15. Bugger! I could have helped you here! I fitted a ABS pump and wiring to a Berlingo taxi after an accident and that was also a non-start afterwards but I had the next week off work (this was a Saturday) and someone else completed the job. Only recently left Citroen to work with Vauxhall so got no way of asking the tech who done it what was wrong.
  16. Sadly, I cannot help you there! I would usually go for the wonderful Haynes manuals, but most car companies refuse to allow them to create such repair manuals as it takes work away from the dealerships! Be sure to come back and let us know how you get on.
  17. It is difficult to advise how to remove trims without actually being there to do it! I hope this picture relates and can help you... the clips for this one are shown at (b ). http://i.imgur.com/Yu3s0tU.jpg Congratulations on the purchase of your new C5!
  18. You risk causing damage to the torque converter on a automatic box if towed.
  19. I would start by removing the radio unit. There are some screws securing the center console behind the panel so it should be removable. i think removing the radio should be a good start to make it clearer.
  20. Welcome but I believe the main language of the forum is English!
  21. I'm glad to hear the car is performing as it should! Perhaps just a little hiccup with the car. The following image will show you where the clips (a) that hold the gear stick gator in place are. These are dead easy to break, some very light persuasion by yourself pulling on the gator at each clip should make the come free. Once you get one going they'll all follow. http://i.imgur.com/NqsUtVK.jpg All the best...
  22. I passed my driving test at 17, all the way back in 1998, and shared my Dad's 1994 Peugeot 405 which I think had a 1.9L Diesel engine. Bought my first car at 20 which was, believe it or not, a Glacier White 2000 Vauxhall Vectra Envoy, 1.6 Petrol engine. It was an ex-demonstrator and I got it a around 9 months old with 6000-ish miles on the clocks. Owned it for 8 years and covered 130,000-odd miles in it before it started to cost me more money in repairs than it was worth. In 2008, I had a short spell with a Citroen C2 I bought from a customer. I was servicing it when I noticed a For Sale sticker in the window and bought it from him when he came in to collect the car, and he paid for the service! The car was somewhat modified with a lovely, sporty exhaust system, lowered suspension and 18" wheels. I owned the car for 2 years as, again, it started to cost me more money to run than it was worth and sold it on. I then bought a 2006 Citroen C4 Coupe with the TU5 petrol engine. This car, however, is starting to get old and like all modern Citroen's, the don't last long. Therefore, I recently placed an order for a brand new Citroen C4 Cactus PureDrive 1.2i Turbo which is ready to be delivered but because the dealership didn't expect to have it completed before March, I agreed to wait until the 15-reg was out and therefore I need to wait until March before I can have it! Oh well, more time to get excited!
  23. Excellent news and well done for keeping an ol' 2CV going. :)
  24. That's a strange on and I don't even know where to start! In my honest opinion, I don't think it is technically possible for the gearbox/engine to force the brakes on without any input from the driver. The braking system is "fail safe" and practically a separate circuit from any engine component apart from the vacuum pipe (maybe check the condition of it but should be a problem, if there was a fault with the vacuum pipe if would make the brakes stiff). My next step would be to carry out a further road test to 100% confirm the fault. My honest thinking is a fault with the gearbox. If you are concerned, I would have the vehicle inspected by a Citroen dealership as soon a possible as this is obviously a safety related issue and don't drive the car unnecessarily if the problem persists!!!!! A MK3 C5 then? X7 relates to current C5. Sorry I can't be of more help at the moment, I'm fairly stumped! Let us know how you get on and welcome to the forum!
