I am sure this has been mentioned before but couldnt find it. Under hard acceleration (have only noticed this pulling from first at roundabouts) I get a loud thud from the car. I think I have located it to the rear right hand side though cant be sure. Anyone else have this problem and if so know what the problem might be. Thanks

I thought they were all the same apart from the VTS which has a stiffer suspension setup for improved performance. The only thing that could possibly make a difference is that the VT / VTR coupe and I think it is the SX in the hatchback have 16 inch wheels whereas the other models higher up have 17 inch and lower profile tyres which probably affects ride quality. Still the C4 is quite strange - in my opinion it rides quite hard but on the other hand it is very comfortable and smooth which I suppose could lead you to the opinon that the ride is both hard and soft lol. BTW i did drive a 5 door on my test drive and that felt quite hard too so dont think there is any difference with the standard coupe/ hatchback.

yeah it works in 4th i think - your probably right wozza which is why because i was in 3rd. Ill try fourth next time should work hopefully. Thanks

Was going through a 30 limit today and tried to put my cruise control on and nothing happened. Thought it was busted but then when i sped up to 40 mph it worked. Does the cruise control on the C4 not work at low speeds?

Just to let peeps know the button is broken. Took it into Citroen today - they didnt have the right part to repair it but will be ordering it in so alls good.

I think there is a little speaker in the dashboard - take a hammer and smash it. Worked for me :D ps. be warned this might invalidate your warranty

I really liked the Civic when i first saw it but im sorta of going off it. Looks sorta like a normal hatchback with lots of plastic lights all over it. I do like the interior though.

The ride of the C4 would seem hard compared to a Renault (Rubbish) Laguna - my parents have one and in terms of ride quality it cant be beaten. The trade off of course is poor handling and lots of body roll. Personally I think the ride quality of the C4 is pretty good - though a tad hard it is very smooth and comfortable - better than a Clio or a Focus but not as good as my parents Laguna or my old 306.

mines going in Tuesday to have my electric window fixed so might ask then. I suspect its just a characteristic of the engine though if we all have the same problems.
-
I had an old Renault (Rubbish) 5 which i got for £650 or summin. At the time I really wanted a newish Clio (at the time this was the old shape one) - was all ready to buy it then phoned up the insurance which turned out to be huge on a new car so that was that lol. Still the 0% interest does make the C4 pretty affordable to buy new.

Yeah from what I have heard the IAM is good for learning how to drive "properly" ie. checking your mirrors, selecting the right gear, keeping to the speed limits but may not teach you the more advanced stuff like how to handle fast corners, skid control and so on. I think I might start with an IAM course to get my basic skills such as observation upto scratch but would also like to learn the more fun and advanced stuff too as I certainly think it can be useful on the road - eg. what would you actually do if you got into a skid or met an oncoming car in the middle of the road and had to swerve to avoid it.
-
Yeah it would be useful. I'm currently thinking of taking some type of advanced driving course at the moment. I think more people should be encouraged how to drive "properly" rather than just passing a test at 17 and that being it. For example knowing how to use the proper gearing to keep to the speed limit, what to do in the event of a skid etc.. I like to think I am a fairly good driver but on the other hand there are so many things I dont know that I either wasnt taught in my test or I have simply forgotton.

No well its the coupe so only two windows - i was wondering if there was an option to disable the window though I cannot see one. Might give citroen a call tommorrow and if theres a problem book it in.

im just using the computer (not manually). I did try a few premium petrols such as optimax but didnt really noticed much difference except the price. However my car does seem to run much better on Shell (just the standard stuff) than petrol elsewhere. Not sure why but my local shell garage is the cheapest anyway.
-
Thanks for that. I'm away at the moment so I'll don't have any tools with me so will have to take a look when I get back home on Tuesday. Was just wondering if it was possible I had disabled it or something (though I can't see any feature on the car that might disable the passenger window)
-
Just took a mate in my car and when she tried to open the passenger window nothing happened. Controls work fine on my side (can open both my own and passenger window) but left side doesnt work. Not sure if this is a fault that has developed or if it ever work (dont usually carry passengers). Anyone else had this problem

Just wondering what everyones average fuel consumptions are and how they compare to Citroens official figures. I have a 1.6 petrol 110bhp which citroen says combined should be around 40 versus nearly 60 for the diesel. This is some way off from what I am getting (about 25 round town, 39 motorway and somewhere inbetween combined). I have only done 1500 miles so maybe the engine is still loosening up but then again have heard many manufactuers over-inflate their mpg figures so maybe not :(

Mine is the same as Wozzas, like most C4's. I have seen that picture someone else before (the guy was asking about it on a forum). Not sure why his is green and if you can change it.

I'm not really one for manufacturer loyalty to be honest - when the time comes I will buy the car that best meets my needs. I do tend to like French cars though - they offer excellent value for money, good styling and usually drive well. Despite what people say me and my family have owned a range of French cars with no problems at all - a Renault (Rubbish) 19, Renault (Rubbish) 5 (my first car), Renault (Rubbish) Laguna which after 60,000 miles and 7 years has had no problems at all, a Citroen BX and a 306 which in the three years i owned it never any problems and now my C4 which though too early to tell at the moment has been good so far. + surveys can be misleading. For example your average Honda driver is usually fairly old, probably rarely pushes his car or uses the features and thus has no problems. The rep in his Ford Mondea doing 30k+ a year has much more time ith the car to find fault or for it to break down. Having said that I did take a look at the new Honda Civic and though i wasnt keen on the styling or the prices I have to admit it was streets ahead of the C4/Focus/Astra in terms of build quality. I think also people expect too much. For example if you buy a Citroen its usually gonna be a few thousand cheaper than the nearest Japanese rival or half the price of a BMW. So to perhaps expect the same levels of build quality, service and reliability is perhaps unrealistic. I still can't stand the Ford thing however. The Fords I have been in/seen have all been crapheaps - noisy, rattly, rusting yet people still buy them. I think the newer ones (Focus, Mondeo) are much better but still overpriced (considering it is a Ford) and I have seen a few rusting examples of older Focus cars.

Plenty of bad drivers of all ages. Though I do think we should all be retested on a regular basis say every 10 years of so to keep upto date. Of course I am a good driver and will never need retesting and any accidents will always be someone elses fault :D

I'm gonna test it later - theres a nice thick concrete wall near where I live - should be able to set em off I reckon. I'll let you know how it goes :D

I think car dealers are like most other services in Britain - pretty crap and shoddy. We all complain but put up with it. Before I bought my C4 i went to a few other dealers to look at cars - half of them couldnt even be bothered to talk to me and one citroen dealer wandered off halfway through talking to me (this was my second visit - obviously didnt think i was gonna buy it). Hence they didnt make a sale that day :D Fortunately found a good dealer in the end (Barretts, Canterbury) - salesman was friendly and helpul, sorted out a test drive, decent discount and had the car within a week. Came off the boat on Wednesday I think and by Friday it was all ready complete with the spoiler fitted. My Auntie has just purchased one from another dealer and they reckon its going to take over a week to "prepare" once they have it! Maybe its coming in parts and they have to assemble it lol

most people dont seem to know how to use roundabouts. Worst offenders though are old people - i was half way round the roundabout yesterday when some old bugger in a smokey old volvo thought he would pull out in front of me. It then took him about an hour to accelerate upto the 60mph speed limit blowing black smoke all over my nice new car by which time he had hit a 40 limit which he continued through at about 50. grrrr :D

£20 sounds like a good deal for an hours work. I would obviously expect to pay more at a dealership. However I also think some dealers try to rip you off (for example £20 for 5 minutes work is a bit excessive) + between them and citroen there is already massive overcharging for the parts. I can see both sides of it - my dad used to be a mechanic and he was saying the number of doctors and lawyers who came in complaining he was charging them £80 to repair his car but then again go and see the lawyer and see if he would be willing to represent you in court for an afternoon for £80. And when on the subject of high charges we recently sold our house and the estate agent took around £4000 in "commission" which basically involved printing out a few details and sticking them in the local newspaper. Still if you can do the job yourself or get an independant to do it cheaper then go for it :P
