I agree with wozza - people should rarely need to use these features if they drove properly in the first place. Anyone frequently using the ABS / ESP probably is'nt driving properly in the first place. I have never had ABS on any of my cars (apart from my C4) and in that time it would have only been useful once when I breaked to avoid a car pulling out of a junction and skidded on the wet road (but then again I admit I was travelling too fast for the conditions and that taught me a lesson for the future). On the other hand though I think its best to know how to drive without these features we all make mistakes and therefore ABS ESP, etc can often be the difference between having an accident and not. However if your ABS/ESP is constantly kicking in then its almost certain you are driving too close to people, and/or too fast.

lol thats a good point matt (not at all cos I'm too poor to afford the £400 add on option) :P

Anyone know why on both the coupe and hatchback (VTR/VTR+ / SX/VTR+) ESP comes as standard on the diesel models but is an option on the petrol? Is it just the fact the diesals cost so much more that they could afford to put it on them but no the petrol models?

Same happens with mine - must just be the shape of the boot. Best solution and the one that worked for me was to take the boot off altogether. Problem is I think my car looks a bit stupid without it and I get this big draft coming through the back. Took it back to citroen and they had to cheek to tell me it was my fault and there was nothing they could do B)

Are you referring to the front passenger seat on the coupe? If so I have the same problem when passengers get out the seat doesnt go back to its original position without pulling it back (whereas on my friends Polo it automatically swings back). However I thought it was just me being stupid and not being able to work it out B)

Another problem with the C4 B)

lol doesnt sound worth crashing then at them prices :D - £1000 for a few bits of plastic :P

I get a sort of rumbling feeling when sat at traffic lights - like you can feel the engine. I have the 1.6 petrol.

yeah just wondering how much parts might be when the inevitable happens and some ***oops*** hits me lol

I know a few people on here have been rear ended etc.. - just out of interest anyone know how much it cost to fix eg. a new bumper, wing etc. I would have thought being made out of plastic would have made any repairs cheaper but then again so is my spoiler and that cost over £200! :D

Anyone know how much they are to buy from a citroen dealer. Theres a few going cheap on ebay at the moment - were loads of them a few weeks back but dont seem as many now. Personally I think they are a really good idea - they seem to last a long time and diffuse the smell nicely around the car - much better than having some dangly thing hanging from your windscreen that stinks the car out for 5 minutes then dies.

No major problems with mine so far (touch wood) :D though it is only two months and 1500 miles old. Still i do like that one in the piccy especally them doors and the wheels actually fit the arches :) Where was that photo taken - looks like a citroen garage.

Sorry to hear about that mate. I'd keep the old spoiler personally and use it to wack the bastards over the head when you find them :) Shame you cant have anything nice nowadays without some pikey attacking it.

Was just looking at my car the other day and realised that the right hand door doesnt perfectly align with the back panel. Checked the other side and it was fine. Anyone else noticed this on their cars. I did ask my dealer at the first service and he told me they are all the same - something to do with them being left hand drive designed cars (though he may have been talking complete rubblish lol). Its not really a problem - Citroen are likely to put it down to manufacturing tolerances I am just wondering if its the same on all cars or just on mine. Marc

Thanks for your help everyone. Seems its going to be between Norwich Union, RAC and Direct Line (all around the £600-£650 mark) which I suppose isnt bad considering the value of the car and my age. Still its strange how a change in car can make such a big difference with my current insurer and yet with others seems to make little difference. Hope i'll never have to claim anyway :) Marc

Hi Got my insurance coming up in 7 days time and trying to find the best quote for my new C4. Unfortunately though my old insurance company (Endsleigh) were by far the cheapest on my 306 they want nearly £900 for the C4 (they obviously dont like my car lol) Have done a few quotes and found direct line and Norwich union the best so far (around £650). BTW I am 22, 1 years no claims and have been driving for 5 years. Also I saw Norwich Union do a 10 month bonus accelerator scheme for younger drivers i.e insure the car for just 10 months and get a years no claims - anyone else tried this. Would appreciate any suggestions from other C4 owners Thanks Marc

I think at that price it is probably better to just buy another C4 instead of bothering to clean it :P

Forget doing it yourself - get someone else to do it. I've tried these people with very good results :P http://www.zdouk.com/newsarticle.aspx?articleID=51

Thanks very much for everyones help. Cars got its first service on Friday so might ask then but I suspect its the design of the car so might have a go with some of that rain x stuff :P Marc
-
Yes I am talking about the front windscreen wipers. I know about the rear one - useless lol - though the sloping nature of the windscreen means the rain flows off it. Its the gap the front ones leave either side of the front windscreen that is the annoyance. Saying that the windscreen wipers are a lot better than on my old 306 which were rubbish ;) . My car is a VTR coupe 1.6 petrol (though I imagine the windscreen wiper design is pretty much the same on all models). Marc

Hi everyone Been reading this forum for the past few weeks but this is my first post :D Does anyone know if there is any fix for the windscreen wiper problem whereby the wipers miss the edges of the windscreen. I think somebody posted about this a week or two back but I only just noticed the problem when I was driving in the rain yesterday. Seems really dangerous to me because it leaves you with a massive blind spot either side of the windscreen in the rain ;) Marc Black VTR Coupe 1.6
