Ricky-GT-Four Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Hi Guys new here, I have the common issue of an anti pollution fault coming up on my C5 and then it dies a death, sometimes it starts after 5 mins, sometimes 20mins, so I take it to 2 seperate independent dealers and none of the two them can get the car to communicate with their diagnostic tools. One I know is made by snap on the other am unsure. the car is a 2.0 Hdi C5 VTR mark one (2003) Is their any known problems with these cars? the mechanic did say he had a previous C5 and it did the same thing, can anyone help please? My missus is 36 weeks pregnant and I can't afford for this car to go wrong on me lol :o Many Thanks In Advance Ricky Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 You need a garage with Lexia diagnostics. Maybe your eolys fluid is depleated and your FAP ready for cleaning. Quote
Ricky-GT-Four Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 eloys? Fap? lol Not up on me jargon for C5's yet Quote
BarryK Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 eloys? Fap? lol Not up on me jargon for C5's yet Hi Rick - search this forum for 'faps', 'eloys' and 'C5 alarm faults', you're in for a very steep learning curve.....the answers are all here tho' Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 But did the 2 ltr model of 2003 have a fap? The 2.2 ltr did but not sure about the 2.0. Quote
paul.h Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 The mark 1 C5 2.0 hdi does not have eolys fluid and an exhaust particle filter (FAP) so any problems related to these can not apply in your case. Still search though under anti pollution faults but you probably still need to visit a Citroen dealer (or other) who has a Lexia diagnostic tool. There seem to be lots of different things that can give the anti pollution message. I have read that on the French car forum some members may help out with their Lexias so worth a look. Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Hi we use a snapon solus pro and have come across the no comminication issue a few times+probal causes are the wrong info has been put into the machine check the fuse for the obd port itself (wery common this one) if you still cant get in with the scanner then check the s50 key on the scanner. And if non of the above work the just use the solus to do a eobd health check Quote
Ricky-GT-Four Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 check the fuse for the obd port itself (wery common this one) Where is this located mate? Great info, my mechanic is getting the new snap on system in, he reckons it'll pick it up if there are no issues with the port, so I'll investigate this first Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 as you look at the obd port the fuse is to the left on the bsi unit 3rd or 4th from the right Quote
