Hi, Another question I'm afraid. Looking in the items that come with the spare wheel I can see the wheel nut release handle, Jack, Towing eye, bolt protector removal tool. However there is somthing that looks like a long screw, is that the centring tool? if so, how and when do you use it? I also have read to remove the wheels you need a anti-theft socket, where do I find that, as I can't see one in with the other tools.

Thanks again.

If you have factory fitted alloys you should have two adapters to undo the four locking bolts. I keep one in the boot with the wheel and the other one in the drop down cubby to the right of the steering wheel.

Aye, I can't see any anywhere. Wasn't sure if they lived in a different part of the car, thanks, I'll get onto the dealer tomorrow.

i've seen comments by many people that the anti-theft nuts are a mess and it's better to stay with regular nuts

for the centering device, once you undo one nut, you can screw this in, then undo the rest, remove wheel, then when putting it back on, you can use the tool as a guide. I guess it would also work to screw in the guide after you've taken the wheel off.

experienced tyre changes (like at a wheel shop) can manage without, but it's a b**** for normal people.

btw i would highly recommend you buy a haynes manual for the car.

Haynes do not do a manual for the new C5 tourer/saloon yet (and if like the earlier C5 it will be many years away). However, there is a French one by ETAI (Review Technique Automobile) which can be obtained direct from the ETAI website and Amazon's French site. Cost is about 36 euros inc delivery. ETAI are quick and only take a few days to deliver. These are good with lots of line drawings and photos and with a bit of help of a dictionary (or internet translations) are fairly easy to use.

There may also be a mechanics handbook on the service.citroen website that can be downloaded once registered. Ones for the earlier C5 are useful although in some ways not as good as a Haynes since some knowledge of techniques working on cars is implied.

So far I have not had any bother with anti theft nuts but I always use a torque wrench when tightening them or after somebody else has done.

If you have alloys, then make sure you remove them and put a smear of copper grease on the contact points on the hub asap since they tend to corrode and stick to the hub. A long length of 3x2" wood is useful to hit against the inside bottom of the tyres to help the first removal.

Neither have I any complaints about them. It's important to keep pressure on the key and the bolt when undoing them - otherwise the key slips off and rounds off the edges.

The wheel centering device is a rod with a thread on the end to use in place of a wheel bolt so it helps position the wheel - never bothered using it though, just adds to the time.

'I'll have to make something up to do that'

Possibilties include getting the part from Citroen (there has always been one with the jack in our cars) or a long bolt of correct thread and cutting the head off. Cost probably similar for both.
