Mean Green Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Hi, I have a 2007 C5 VTX+ Estate (1.6 HDi). I have recently noticed that it sits down almost onto its dump stops when left for a few hours (typically overnight) As soon as the car is unlocked the pump can be heard and it lifts back to normal. Driving is uneffected and everythign else seems normal - although I have noticed that it seems to raise and lower for no apparent reason when it is parked up with the engine running. It raised and lowers for anything up to several minutes. Any help or suggestions? Thanks Quote
paul.h Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I have seen this before on this site but can not remember exactly what it was but it could be the height sensors on the front and rear anti roll bars need a good dose of WD40 to free them up. Quote

Thanks Paul, Is that for the sitting down or the "bouncing" (or both) :) Quote
qman3428 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I had this on a Xantia, it was a failed rear suspension sphere, when it got really bad it was like a normal car with the dampers gone Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I have recently noticed that it sits down almost onto its dump stops when left for a few hours My C5 estate went through a period of dropping overnight when it was around four years old. I got quite worried about it. I went through the high/low routine with the suspension at least once every day for a week or so, and suddenly it started to keep it's level. It's been fine ever since. Mean Green Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 the high/low routine Is this just a case of lowering then raising, or is there a set pattern to maximise the effect I believe the rear suspension spheres have already been replaced by the previous owner - it is fairly high mileage 77k on an 07. Johndouglas Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Is this just a case of lowering then raising, Yes! Rear spheres shouldn't have needed changing before 77K. C5 spheres have a much longer life that those fitted to Xantia and BX. Quote
DaveHerns Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I had that about 3 years ago .Garage told me it was the strut leaking ,No visible leak as fluid went back up the return pipe Quote
Mean Green Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 This problem is now getting worse - the mud flaps are now almost rubbing the ground after about 2 hours parked. It is also taking noticeably longer to raise back up. Is there any damage that can happen if I do not rush into fixing it? Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Have you tried taking it from normal height up to high, then down to low. When its settled, take it back to high. Do the routine a few times. It may help. Also have you checked the LDS level? Quote
