jefflad Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Hi, Looking at changing my rear pads but need to pick up a rewind tool to make sure I do it properly. However, I've read that the left and right hand sides wind a different way so in effect I need 2 tools (1 for left hand thread and one for the other). Can someone clarify this as it's probablycheaper to get done at my local garage if so. ThanksJ Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Your getting confused between the front and rear pads. It's the front pistons that need to be screwed in - both in different directions. The rear pistons will just push straight back. It's an easy job to just change the pads. The difficulty comes when you want to swop the discs or remove the corossion from the arm joints. The caliper bolts are difficult to remove. Quote
DaveHerns Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 If this is a new type C5 then the handbrake may well work on the rear wheels .New type C5's are much more conventional , even only having hydraulic suspension on the top models Quote
paul.h Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 For the model without the electric handbrake:Both sides should wind back in the same way - clockwise. To change pads - unclip the brake hose and undo the 2 caliper bolts (35 Nm) then lift the caliper off to reveal the pads. Quote
