Then switch it of and wait 5 mins and the headlights come on and stay on but if you open any door then the lights go off then after 5 mins they come back on, owner having to disconnect battery every night now to syop battery going flat.

No fault codes

sorted. finaly got it fixed. It was the bsi unit the software on it was corrupt.caused by power spiking after jump starting another car and after speaking to people theres a proper procedure for jumping another car  and a procedure forputting jump leads  on most car but mainly for psa group of cars so it includes a citroen then. as when your jumping the regulator on on the running car senses a drain on itself and allows the regulator to put out more power to maintain 14.4v and if you just pull the jump lead of your causing a power surge till the regulator sdjusts itself and 9 out of 10 times is its fine guess our customer was just unlucky but anyway heres the procedure.

connect leads making sure you put the negative lead onto the engine of the flat car

once the flat car is started do not take the leads off

go into the charged car and switch rear demisters on and headlight and fogs.

Then remove the leads

Now switch the headlight and demisters off one at a time.

This allows the regulator to catch up and regulate the power output and were not talking about seconds here its actually miliseconds for it to alter itself but its long enough to fry things

When you say "go into the charged car" do you mean the one which is giving the power ,not the one taking it ? I suppose turning on the lights etc substitutes the load of the flat battery ? No wonder people are so unwilling to give anyone a jump start these days
