Hi all, Martin here!

Bought my mk1 Xsara Picasso last February, drove it for 4-5 months before taking it off the road.  Its a 16v 1.6 petrol model in red.

Made the decision to try and get it back on the road, as my wife is now child minding two extra children as well as our own two, so we really need the extra space the picasso offers.

Theres a few minor issues I'm looking to get some help with before I get it M.O.T'd.

I've never owned a Citroen before so fairly unfamiliar with them, so would be very grateful of any info or advance this forum can offer.

Cheers,

Martin

Well the first problem I'm trying to tackle is with the airbag system.

The warning light constantly flashes. I've checked/cleaned all the connects, then removed them and soldered them together. Took it to a friend, who has a airbag reset tool, to try and reset it, and all it does is flicker and then continue to flash. So reading through various forums and Q&A websites, I'm thinking its more to do with the airbag ecu. I have located a replacement for a tender but would really appreciate any advice before purchasing it. Also, I've tried to find where the airbag ecu is located but can't seem to find it. So if anyone could tell me where it is, that would be great.

Before trying to delete the airbag light, did you read the fault code ? Without doing this you may end up replacing and paying for lots of parts before finding the actual fault. Depending on the rpo no. and model, there is the steering wheel rotary connector and the following components (any of which may be the problem)

The system consists of the following components (depending on the version)
Airbag ECU 1
Front pyrotechnically pretensioned seat belt 2
Front airbags 2 (as standard)
Chest type side airbag 2 (as standard)
Side sensors 2
Key for deactivating passenger’s airbag 1

The ecu should be located under the central air vents so to access it the air con panel and the vent duct need removing. Disconnect the battery and wait at least 10 minutes before starting to remove it to avoid the risk of the airbags going off. Once replaced, the new one then has to be configured to the car so may need to go to a dealer or specialist with the diagnostic equipment. It may also be worthwhile checking the passenger airbag deactivation switch. if not already done.
