eggiemk1 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Hiya all. I am looking for a new car and was wondering if the good people on here could help me. Im looking at the Citroen C4 1.6HDi 16V SX 5dr [92] (tax band C), and was wondering if anyone could advise me on it. Is this a good car/bad car good and bad things about it, and what to look for when buying one. Also is there a filter issue (some one was telling me they have to be serviced more regularly and have a fault of blocking and breaking)Thanks peeps Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Also is there a filter issue (some one was telling me they have to be serviced more regularly and have a fault of blocking and breaking) I've never driven one but my daughter has a Xsara which is the C4's predecessor, and she loves it. She's had it from new and doesn't want to exchange it. The C4 used to come with a 2ltr HDI engine, but now its biggest engine is the 1.6 HDI. The story you've heard is not quite on the mark. The fault lies in the engine's turbo. Apparently where oil changes have been neglected or not done properly, - (the oil needs to be drained completely from the sump, rather than being sucked out through the dipstick hole) - the turbo develops a fault and needs to be exchanged. Therefore if you are buying a used C4 you need one with a good service record showing correct oil changes. Quote
THOMASROBLOT Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 hello c4 is a great car the only thing you have to check is the leak on the injector on this engine 1,6HDI the leaks are very damageable for the turbo but be careful, the leak aren't like you could think. It is not diesel leaks but it is exhaust air leak. sometime there is no noise but only some strange black feature around the injectors. If there are leaks, the exhaust air get a to the top engine and burn the oil. With this oil burn the oil pump become sealed and due to it the turbo died. So check it Quote
coastline taxis Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Google 1.6 hdi turbo sit back and read the storys then look for something different Quote
glen gibson Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Hi, Just to say.I have a C4 1.6HDi. March 2006. It has the original battery under the bonnet. The original battery in the key. Had no problems with the engine.(fingers x'd) It has 246,000 miles on the clock and is still running well. I would not hesitate to have another one, but being a pensioner it is out of the question financially. Glen Gibson. Quote
