DaveHerns Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 My rear suspension is creaking . Worse in the recent hot weather ,.I can sit on the rear bumper and bounce the car up and down often without a sound but then sometimes as it settles after being turned off , it lets out a creaking sound. I've sprayed the bearing areas with WD40, chain lube etc and it stops for a few daysIs there a test for worn bearings ? With the car jacked up and the suspension on high , I'm guessing the radius arm is under too much load to detect any wearWhere's best to get the bearing kit? Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Is there a test for worn bearings ? On previous Xantia and BX worn rear arm bearings made the wheels lean inwards - like /---------\ ....... I think I've seen on other forums that you can get Xantia bearings which are used on C5s from GSF and the spacers and new bolts from a Cit dealer. Quote
DaveHerns Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Strange thing is my tyres are wearing on the outsides which is the opposite of what I'd expect with negative camber .Not squeaking today now it's rained but I'll phone around for the bits I probably need Quote
paul.h Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Years ago when I replaced all the bearings in a Saab gearbox, I got all the new ones from a bearing supplier. But, this was after removing the old ones to get the bearing details stamped on the bearing shells - maybe Steve at coastline has some lying around that he could have a look at. A kit though is probably a cheaper way of getting them. Maybe the unexpected wear is if the wheels are not pointing straight as well as leaning in. Quote
