clairandben Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 HiI have a 54 plate 1.6hdi c5 estate with 93000 on the clock.I had a few issues with risk of filter blocking, and anti pollution fault messages being displayed on the screen. I have had the dpf changed, and the dpf ecu changed, and it was fine for about 500 miles. The warnings have now reappeared and the engine cooling fan continues to run for a good 10 mins after switching off the ignition no matter what temp the car is showing.we also had a warning about risk of ice when the outside temp was in double figures. The car runs fine, but I was wondering if there is some other sort of electrical fault. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks Ben Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 in your post you dont mention having the eloys fluid refilled and reset. the outside temp fault will be the sensor on the near side door mirror Quote
clairandben Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Sorry forgot to mention have had eloys topped up and reset.I have noticed that on a previous occasion the fan ran when warning light was on and when it was reset the fan behaved itself.the fan started running again when the warning lights came back on irregardless of engine temp. coastline taxis Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Your best way forward with this will be a diagnostic to see what the ecu is putting the warning on for. Otherwise its just going to be guess work Quote
citrophile Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 There are a number of members who might assist with a diagnostic session if you can indicate which part of the UK you are in. Quote
clairandben Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Hiim in cambridgeshire. On a previous occasion when the car was plugged in at a garage, it didnt register a fault even though the on board computer said otherwise.so I was just after a few ideas as to things I could look for. Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 On a previous occasion when the car was plugged in at a garage, it didnt register a fault What machine were they using? To get a full diagnostic reading, it needs to be a Lexia or Planet. Quote
paul.h Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 If the engine fan is running, the car must think the engine is hot and that comes from the engine temperature sensor. If you plug the car in to a code reader that gives live data or ideally a Lexia, you can see what the sensor shows and decide if it is faulty. If it is not something simple like this then the full diagnostic check is needed as already mentioned. Quote
Mikrosoft Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 My depollution warning has just popped up on mine 1.6HDI 122000 miles on the clock full service history with paperwork but nothing even mentioned it's ever had anything changed concerning the fap dpf so I have bitten the bullet and booked it into fast road conversions this Friday so it can be removed £600 ouch lol. They will remove the filter and refit it and remap the ecu removing any trace of it, I'm hoping with the claims I should get a better MPG and a bit more torque low end :) Quote
Mikrosoft Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Well it's been done, the fap has been sorted and the ecu has been remapped :) Wow what a difference it has made so much more torque low end and the acceleration is much more improved, now I need to see the MPG Quote
